I would ask that you all remember the Downey Family in your prayers this week and into the future. On August 19, 2004 Brett Downey #38 was killed in an MX accident during practice at Glenn Helen. This Friday [August 19th] will be the first anniversary of Brett's accident. You can do a search on Yahoo for Brett Downey and read about this remarkable young man. As with many tragic events positive things occur - "The Brett Downey Safety Foundation" is a prime example of the impact that Brett had [has] in our extended family known as "motocrossers & offroaders!"

I have spoken with Jim Downey numerous times over the past year and he is a super nice guy. Like any Dad he misses his son. Jim, his wife Kathy and Bretts sisters are Brittany and Brooke. I personally appreciate your prayers for the Downey Family!

I woke up this morning thinking about the Downey Family and Brett today. It has been one year today since Brett died. PLEASE pray for them as this day drags on.

"I vividly remember when I was facing the position of the one year date of loosing Garrett. It was a damn tough day. I guess what made it so hard is that as the date came closer - it actually "haunted" me - I knew it was coming and I did not want it to, but I could not stop it. It felt like a nightmare that would not go away. When this day came memories of "That Final Day" flashed through my psychic all day and there was nothing I could do about it! Nothing would stop those visible and horrid memories. I simply wanted the day to be over! When the day was done I felt completely and totally drained, both emotionally and physically. My eyes hurt from endless tears and the skin was wrinkled around my blood shot eyes. Suzette went through her own 'hell' that day. As a husband I felt completely helpless to help my soul mate and she could do nothing to help me. That feeling only compounded the anguish that came on this day."

Please PRAY for the Downey Family today. This day is one that NO family should ever have to endure.
