Default Fred Kalmick - "Remembering Those Who Rode"

It is with great sadness that our "List" grew over this past weekend. I have taken the liberty to add the name of Fred Kalmick to the "List." I did not personally know Fred, but I know a man who I respect who did. The comments made about Fred reflect much about his character and as one who, just like us loved to ride.

You know when it comes time to leave this life I can think of no better way than to "take some laps" with long time friends and get that "feeling" that keeps us coming back. A rider goes back to the pits, takes off his helmet - has that smile that those who ride always have when they come back in........ and simply pass on.

So for those of you who knew of, or have a story about Fred Kalmick - please post it here for all to read.

Fred Kalmick may you rest in eternal peace and know that you were loved. You will not be forgotten!

Godspeed Fred, Say hello to all the other riders we have lost over the years. We will all be in a big race someday, together.

Mike and Bill,

Thanks for the kind words. Fred has only his brother left and they were coowners of a small yet successful business. I don't believe there will be any asking for donations or whatnot. However, if that changes I will post the info.

Yes, it is sad to see your friends go ahead of you. I know in my heart that Fred would want to go while in the saddle. He will be missed yet, life continues. I will hold the memories we had together close as those can never be taken away. The feeling of our mortality looms and I'm sure many know this better than I.

We must enjoy our short time here and appreciate all that we have. I'm not an overly religious man yet at times like this I find solace in speaking with the man upstairs. I know that Fred and I will meet up again and that makes me smile.

Again, thank you!!

Ernie
