| While my pictures are uploading I will give you my GMB report. Since my report is kind of long winded I made a new thread. We got in early Saturday morning.....missed the gathering at the Berg's again! Next year....I gotta make it. ( Btw...Mike said the GMB will be the first weekend of October from now on!!! GET READY NOW PEOPLE!!! Well let me get the bad news out of the way. I would never want to tangle with another rider ...regardless of the event and regardless of who they are. BUT...during Saturday's practice my luck was not with me. I was on the tracking riding with my Arkansas Bro Machoman and then it happened. We were doubling toward the table top before the "triple" and Macho was doing it like a pro. He was on the left side of the track and I was on the right side....about 3-4 bike lengths back. Macho clipped the last double and his bike kicked him.....the front got squirrelly and it bucked him off. If that wasn't bad enough, I was watching this unfold.....FROM MID AIR....and after his bike bucked him off he landed right in my path!. It was like slow motion.....my front tire hit Macho in the right side as I landed and it threw me over the bars in a full endo. Face down in the dirt I wiggled my fingers and toes to make sure I was in one piece and got up to help my Bro. I knew he was hurt but had no idea how bad. A group arrived very quickly to help. To make a long story short Macho's mom and BigM convinced him to go to the hospital. After several hours he checked out ok. Zoohoot, I thank you so much for being the man you are.....you see Zoo went to the hospital with Macho and his mom and it never crossed his mind that he would miss Saturday's practice. Zoo...your one example of the many amazing people the GMB brings together. Macho, I know your weekend of riding was cut way too short....but having you and your mom there made it special for me and my family. Friends like these are hard to come by. Macho...your one tough....no one MACHO man! Well the Saturday practice continued.....a few bumps and bruises and a sore neck but nothing worth mentioning. We were so happy to see Psyklone, Fluttergirl and Flutterbaby! Those guys are awesome! Pragmatic and his crew....none better. MxMike and PopFuhre...what can I say about these two. Pop...your Wrangler Dogs are second to none and MxMike...your an awesome kid.....no ....man! (even if you do only weigh 113 lbs!!hahaha). The North Texas crew was there...CRFjedi, JediJR, DPW, TSqwared and his crew and Lawdog. VintageDave, BigMaico (sweety Next rolled in a vehicle carrying three special men. Motodad, b-bike and John Lorenz. This was the first time I had the honor to meet John. He is one of the original Band of Brothers and that only should tell you what kind of guy John is. It was an honor to meet you John and I am honored to call you friend. Next Motodad with his bright blue Toyota truck made the rounds to make sure he said hello to everyone. It seems no one really gets comfortable and ready to ride until they know Mike is there. I can't describe it....but everytime I am at San Jacinto Cycle park....there is a calming effect Mike Berg has on all of us. Now.....if I could somehow figure out how to win his truck from him in a card game or something....maybe I should consult Chris Bazzy.....bet he would help me! LOL Well you know that other guy....who is he? Oh yeah....b-bike. Boyd told me via PM prior to the GMB IV that he wanted me to be the first to ride 939 (his pride and joy Hurricane 426). Talk about pressure!!! I even tried to talk him out of it at the track! Boyd was not having it! He pushed the bike right beside where we parked and left it. He told me "Satch, I am not riding it till you take it out there....so......" and he walked away! I looked at my wife and said ..."well? What am I supposed to do?" So guess what kiddies....I RODE THE HURRICANE!!! (funny how I brought my yello jersey isn't it? LOL) Boyd...your the best. You add so much to the GMB and your words are taken to heart. Thank you. The Saturday practice was fun (even after the Satch/Machoman bout). Char roosted me.....she would do that again on Sunday in the GMB moto....and she claims to be innocent....RIGHT! We all had a blast racing and roosting each other. Saturday night we trashed BigMaico's house! Really...I found myself picking up stuff cuz I did not want the big guy to get angry....BigM angry? I should have known better. Motomom and MrsTwister were keeping things in control and thank god for that. Out in the front was a crowd of on lookers watching motorcycle surgery.....come to find out it was not the CRF250's fault. Just a mistimed cam. It was fun making fun of "pink" bikes for awhile (that same pink bike pimped me in two +40 motos the very next day.....paybacks are hell !) The Sunday event was incredible. From the opening ceremony to the final moto. Jedi pimped me in both +40 motos. Valverde pimped me in moto 1. It wasn't that I got beat....I just ran out of time! The GMB motos were a blast. Not often do you get to ride two 20 minute motos and still be smiling from ear to ear! The final lap of these motos sums up the entire weekend. Moto 1 of the GMB class we followed MotoDad and Garrett over the finish line. Unbelievable. The class had almost 50 riders....all gathered in honor of "Those Who Rode". In moto 2 I was honored to rided the final lap with B-bike, Dirtbikindad and Pragmatic. Truly a "tour de force" Like I said I could go on and on. As you can see from the pics.....ole number 9 was very lucky to get to ride with a lot of special people this weekend. The entire event makes me stop and reflect on life, family and friends. It makes me a better person. I will always be grateful to have made friends with such special people. I have to thank my wife for her never ending support. She actually encourages my crazy motocross habit. My kiddos...they both make me proud. Well enough mushy stuff....here are some other funny things that happened..... - MxMike and PopFuhre let Satch store his bike at their house Saturday....MxMike washes it and puts "Strawberry Shortcake" stickers all over it! (I left them on Sunday for good luck.....it worked....no crashes!) - Mike Berg calls for "roost revenge" on Satch several months ago on ATM. All weekend long I dodged roosts (most of the time they got me). Even got roosted while in the portolet! (MxMike) - David Preston roosted me like no other (you see a trend here don't you) - CRFJedi is a crossdresser...... Ok....I have to stop or no one will read all this ! Here is the link to some pics taken this weekend. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] |

Just be careful throwing that crossdresser word around. I'll be getting unwelcome calls, emails, PM's, and who knows what from all kinds of weirdos. |

| Satch, Great write up and pics! It was an honor to ride and race with you and I look forward to doing it again soon. I recently purchased a toyhauler so the family can travel to different tracks around the state with a little more comfort, so hopefully some road trips are in the near future. At present the bike is in pieces in the garage and I hope today to deliver the topend to a local expert here in Houston to fix my valves. Wes "Valverde" Lorenz |
