Default yz426 bad crank need advice

I need to get a new crank or get mine rebuilt. I checked ebay and can't find a new crank. does anybody know where i can still purchase a new one? Or if i buy a new rod and have the shop rebuild my crank is there a better rod to buy or are they all equal? I found a few brands, hot rod, versah, and pro x. Also wondering if if i can use any of the 450 cranks because there are lots of them available new. I also need a piston so if i could use a 450 crank and piston that would be great. Anybody know anything about stroking a 426?

Too bad Tryce doesn't chime in here. that seems like it would cure all your ills with mismatched cam chain gears and cams.

this place can rebuild, lighten or stroke your stock crank. im not sure but i think the 426 uses same crank as the 450 just a bigger bore [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

What is wrong with your crank? Chances are it can be rebuilt. I bought an 04 426F some time back with a "broken piston skirt" with the idea that I'd fix it up quick-like and turn a profit on it. Once I got it apart, the piston was fine but the lower rod bearing was hosed.
I took the crank to the local reputable shop, and they installed a Vesrah rod kit for me. It's been a long process and I'm still not done due to various things getting in the way of me finishing the bike, but I suspect the lower rod pin in the Vesrah kit is just a hair too long because I keep ending up with something rubbing on the cases when the crank is installed. I've had the shop fix it once already and it's still doing it... I need to take it back again when I have time.

Default 426 crank

IF the 450 crank will work just the same then oemdirtbikeparts.com has a yz450f crank for $150.00 and they rate all there parts, may be an option for you not sure.

that would settle it for me. it will already have a cam chain gear that will work with the ones for the 450 with the compression starting aid. you just need the piston with the right pin height. you get the longer stroke as frosting to the cake.

Ok does anyone know the piston i would need to use the 450 crank? Id love to take that route for the extra stroke. I called a local shop that i had do work for me before, and he said $40 to rebuild my crank if i supply the parts. So if i can't figure out the 450 crank soon I'm just gona rebuild my crank and figure the rest out as i go as far as the cams. Why does the big end go bad? I just put a crank in a yz125 i bought that was the same way, but i figured the kid i got it from held it open down the road to long and overheated the bearing. Also my other 426 i got with this one did the same thing and snapped the rod and destroyed the cylinder, both sides of the main cases, and the balancer to. The oil filter on both motors looked plugged so could poor maintenance be the cause? I dont want to put all this time and $ in this for it to happen again.

I read somewhere that the 450 cylinder is taller than the 426. So if the crank would fit my block then with the 450 piston, wouldn't it hit my head since my cylinder is shorter?

that is something you would need to checkout. it may be as easy as a spacer to get the clearance. my guess is that yamaha changed the piston pin heighth, but again something worth knowing before you take the plunge. there has to be someone here that can measure a cylinder from gasket surface to gasket surface. i want to say that the head bolts up a little different from the 426 compared to the 450 as well, so you don't want to have to come up with another head if you can help it.
