But it mainly depends what style of riding you do. If you ride woods only, the XR really wouldn't be a bad choice. Good low end power and extremely reliable. If you ride MX all the time, a YZ250f can get real expensive if you blow it up. From what I have read, topend jobs on the 4 stroke MXers can get upwards of 1-2k depending on damage. Max you will spend on a 2 smoke is maybe 500 if you buy a brand new cylinder, piston kit, gaskets, etc. So if money is not a factor I would say go for the 4 stroke, if it is, stick with your 2 smoke. Maybe bump up to a 250 2 smoke? Also, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the DOHC 4 strokes break easily/all the time, but when they do, it can get pricey quick. That being said, I own a CR250 and just picked up a yz250f for cheap because it needed a whole new kickstart assembly and clutch side case. Parts for that ran me ~$275 (And that was for a used side case and kickstart assembly, gaskets, oil seals and bearings, plus some misc parts the previous owner felt were ok to just leave out of the engine |

| the future is in the four stroke, go with the 4 banger, the only person who could ride a 125 as fast as a 250f was that dude on a kx125 a couple of years ago, he rode that thing like he stole it. cant remember his name but he said "you know" alot in his interviews, and i think he had a cheater bike as well. was it J-Bub? JUBBA? BUB-DIDDY? cant remember any help? |
