Well I got my CDI box today and that was the problem because it fired up every kick and has great spark. It is extremely obvious that that was the problem. My CR is a very nice bike and I'm confident that it will be very reliable bike, but I'm getting the 4 stroke itch. I don't care what 250F I get but it will most likely be a YZF since I can find them cheaper used. How would it be buying a used MX 4 stroke? It seems as if MX 2 strokes become disposable after a couple of years, what should I look out for on the YZF? Mainly my hardest problem is keeping myself from talking myself into keeping my CR, but I'm gonna try my best from doing that. Just wandered if there is any thing I should look out for besides the usual? Do yall think I'm making the right move?

Well for one 4 strokes are the future and 2 strokes are on there way out...And second 4 strokes require less to maintain than a 2 stroke in my opinion not to say that all bikes dont require some to a certian exstent...

Well i wouldnt say that a 4 stroke is a far better bike than a 2 stroke but they each have there advantages, 2 strokes must stay on the pipe to run good, 4 strokes have better low end torque and dont necessarally need to be reved to the moon to get ya going, 2 strokes have more snap but 4 strokes have more linier power than a 2 stroke, in my opinion each is good and each has there good and bads, i would necesarally choose a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke if one was being given to me!!!

Iam the same CRacer, Iam beginning to think YZ250F. Or a YZ450F. I think the wide power of 4 speed 450 would be great! I like my YZ125 alot but I love the sound of the racing 4-strokes! I am getting a club license so maybe when Iam at the local track I can take a 250F for ride. How much more torque do YZ250f have than XR250? Geoff

It's a decision that no one else can really make. We all like different bikes. BUT..............................2 STROKES ARE THE BEST

Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier. At the time I was pretty mad at my CR and wanted to get some revenge. The racing 4 strokes do sound crazy and just the sound of them makes me want to get one. But I still can't see if there that much better than a 2 stroke. I guess I'll have to ride one and find out.

I Love my 426, but it sure is fun to flick the KX125 around. Yea, I know the power difference is there.......Maybe its my level of riding, but the 125 hauls my fat behind around fine. Plenty of fun and enough power for me. Although, going back and forth between the two in the same day is shocking at first. No compression braking with the 125.

I've been racing 125s for a few years and now that I have a CRF250 I can't believe how much faster(and safer) it is. I've been killing myself chasing these things and now I know why.

Hey Cracer, I just got off of a 2000 cr125 and got on a crf 250. 1 word....Awesome. Much easier to ride and predictable. Once you get on a four stroke, say goodbye to your two stroke. Your itch will be satisfied.

I rode 2 strokes for a loooong time, and was a diehard fan. Never wanted, understood, or even considered buying a 4 stroke. Then one day I was coming into a sharp corner and going to pass this guy on a CRF, I took him in the corner and we hammered down for a 4th gear straight away. Now my 250 was NOT a slow bike, in fact it was one of the best running 250's I have ever owned, but that crf caught and past me in that straight AFTER I took him in the corner! That experiance opened my eyes, and after I got done picking the 4" pcs of earth out of my chest from the enormus roost that thing generated, I started thinking that I really needed to try one of these things, they are the future and man, they haul butt too! I never looked back, scared the hell out of me when I sold my 2 smoke and was driving to pick up the yzf, thought I had lost my mind man. Then I got it home and hit the gas in 2nd gear, all doubts went away and were replaced by a ear to ear grin that still hasn't went away. 4 strokes are the bomb, and as has been said the smokers are going to drop off in the not so distant future. Oh and by the way, I got the guy on the crf 2 corners later and promptly proceeded to wax him.

See thats what I mean, I read about them and hear about how great they are, yeah, yeah, yeah. I just say to myself no way can they be better than a 2 stroke. I mean when I was on my TTR(yeah I know TTRs and YZFs are completely different machines) I was dreaming about getting a 2 stroke and now that I have one it seems weird to say that I want a 4 stroke. But then I go out on the track and get sprayed by roost from 250Fs and its happened way to many times I love the sound of them too. When you hear them and see them hook up you can kind of getting a feeling of how good they are. Then I go out and ride my 2 stroke and it feels like a rocket so then I talk myself out of it again. Most of the riders that I race are on 2 strokes still but you can definitely see the 4 strokes starting to take over. I'm going to race the heck out of my CR until I move out of the D class and become competitive, once I'm in a higher class and more competitive and I can see I'm at a big disadvantage on my 2 stroke, then I'll make the switch.

i was a die hard 2 stroke guy (for mx) until i rode the crf. AWESOME. As a matter of face last night my friends and i got to take a spin on an04yzf250. The guy had left it at in our shop at our track ( i love saying that..."our track......") and said we could go for a spin. It was awesome. Much better than the last one i ride. My friend that rides a cr500 rode it and when he came in he just kept saying how unfair it is letting them race against the 125's

I have a YZ250F and it absolutely RIPS. I love it, and everybody who tries it likes it so much I have to pry them off of it after they "try it out" for about an hour. Yamaha really made a great bike here. It's got a huge spread of power, FAST, feels pretty light, good traction, good brakes, easy to start for a 4 stroke. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. It's a matter of personal preference. Some people like the hit of a 2 stroke's powerband. I personally would rather twist the gas and go than try to balance on a 125 2-strokes tightrope-thin powerband. The best thing about a 250F is it takes very little effort to make go fast. All I have to do is turn my right hand and it goes where I point it. I can short shift it, I can lug it, I can scream it. It's got POWER EVERYWHERE, from idle to redline. I LOVE IT.
