ok, now i've had some trouble with the TTR running super duper lean off the bottom, and i've adjusted the he-doublehockysticks out of it to try and fix it but that plug is still ash white from zero to about 1/3 trhottle. i found "genuine mikuni pilot jets" in Denniskirk catelog but the smallest they have is a 50 another thing is that i don't have a clue how to get the pilot out of the carb... i know how to get the main out but as far as the pilot jet is concerned i dont even know where it is. can you give me a small explaination to where it is? thanks Rob

Blitz, the bad thing about the 17.5 pilot is that you have to buy them in 4 packs from Yamaha 1. Loosen the carb clamps 2. Twist the carb toward the kick start side 3. Drain the float bowl (it DOES NOT) drain out the tube attached to the bowl, there is a small outlet right on the front right hand side of the carb- I used a small coffee can to catch the fuel)- the drain screw is a gold screw located on the bottom of the bowl on the left hand (shifter) side 4. Pull the carb out of the cylinder side boot and twist it toward you as far as you can 5. Remove the float bowl 6. Take that plastic thingy off the main jet- all you need to do is slide it off (what the hell does that thing do anyways???) 7. Look in a small hole right in front of the main- this is where the pilot jet is. It takes a fairly small screwdriver to fit in there and get it out. 8. I think you're smart enough to figger out how to put it back together again

Hey Cowboy.......Im pretty sure that the little plastic thing that sets around the main jet is there to keep the fuel from splashing around inside the bowl.... Just thought I would let ya know

FP- it's so small I don't think it could do much, but that was my thought too. I may remove it and do some testing WHEN ALL THIS DAMN SNOW GOES AWAY!

Cowboy, do not remove the lil white "thingie". It is there for a purpose...to stabilize the fuel around the main jet. All the bouncing around you do can cause the fuel to slosh and foam. The "thingie" helps prevent this. You should have known
