I've looked into this and have heard from a number of guys that have the power now valve that say they noticed a good increase in throttle response. I just came across the power blade and powerwing. Has anyone used the these? Let me know your opinions on the subject!! The power now is made by scaryfast The power blade is made by HCR The powerwing is made by boyesen Im guessing they all three basically do the same thing. Im just wanting to beef up the low end on my 2009 YZ450F THanks

Yeah but can you honestly control that much horsepower? No you can't. There's only a few guys in the world that actually can use it. Since we're talking about throttle response and not horsepower I think you should go get a JD Jetting kit (I'm currently installing one in my KTM right now) a Boysen Quickshot and one of those powervalve things. That will give you great throttle response and your motor will be running alot better after that. As to which powervalve, I have no clue sorry. Do some research but I'm sure they can't vary too much.

the mods i would install would be a hot cam. u will be spending almost the same money, but the cam would help alot more. also i would ditch the stock pipe and silencer. but to answer ur ?, i installed the powerwing on my bike and noticed a little gain but for the money it wasnt worth it. just my 2 cents.

I'm with Crogg, don't spend the cashola on the Powernow type stuff.

Yes the throttle is always a good way to control power lol But the problem with motor mods is that your motor will not be as a reliable as stock...so if you want to keep it reliable but get some more snap and power research some pipes that will put power where you want it and do some carb mods and keep your air filter clean! Thats one of the most over looked areas...you can have the fastest motor in the world but thats not going to matter if it cant suck enough clean air into it! Me personally, I prefer to have a bike that runs perfect with no hiccups (already got the power since I have a KTM

I have heard that the hot cam does make the engine less reliable. I am going to get a new exhaust system(the MRD), but is it true that the hat cam does produce a lot more heat thus making the engine less reliable?

I've never heard of a hot cam causing less reliability. In fact, I've heard the opposite. My stage 1 hot cam was awesome (better than my pipe for sure). I'd get a cam over a pipe everyday of the week (oh and that includes the power now and the others as well).

Well cams modify the valve timing...so depending on what kind of cam you have in it, it can either decrease or increase motor life...or at least thats my understanding. But what do i know lol. The only mod that doesn't really affect it is port and polish as far as i know. Whenever you start messing around with the internals to squeeze more power out of them you will decrease the life, there's no way around it.

woody has used the hotcam stage 1 in his crf and he said it made it more reliable, and im installing the stage 2 in mine and i guess we will find out if it makes it tank or not. but it must be reliable or hotcams would have a product to sell if it made bikes grenade right??? makes sence to me.

The stage 1 made it more reliable. It had a less radical decline on the lobe, and allowed for better longevity. I can't speak to the stage 2. TheMuffinMan is right in what he said. It all depends on the cam profile. When it comes to cams, for the most part they simply move the power around. I lost some top end but gained some low end power. So it all depends on if they are simply moving the power or if you are going to get more everywhere. The more radical the cam lobe profile, the harder it will be in your engine -- specifically your valve train.

Just from a general racing perspective (i drag race a mustang and race a shifter kart) and pretty much anything you do to INCREASE power output, outside of just blueprinting WILL increase stress on an engine. Hotcams can sell cams because there are enough people out there without reguards to engine life.
