Im not sure with the bike, cause some of the 4 strokes have two drain plugs, but whatever. Unscrew the drain plug on the bottom, let the oil drain, put the plug back in, fill it with new oil. Depending on what condition the washer is in, you might want to change it.

393 you ever pull off the down filter under the upper frame drain? My 01' has one it's like a fat pencil. I wash it out everytime along with the main round filter. Mxxx8 don't fear the metal flakes it's normal. I do recomend the Mag drain bolt down the road. TT has alot of great mods for your machine. I'd did the BK carb mod, HotCams decomp cam mod, neutral switch and cover. Re route of the breather hose (I cross alot of rivers) and have loved them all.

four26stroker,
Yes, I clean the frame strainer about every fourth change. I have heard some say they don't fool with it but I am just a little to conservative to leave it. Usually very little metal in the strainer but it could be a difference.

The magnetic drain bolt is a great idea too . And, you are right about a few flakes being present in the oil, the clutch plates and the gear engagement when speed shifting will put some metal shavings into the oil. When you find "pieces of metal" in the oil not flakes start worrying then.

Read up on Cowboyona426 posts for a lot of off road and cross country modifications like your breather tube mod. He does a lot of woods riding and is up on your kind of mods for the off-road scene. I'm using a lot of his and Dirtbikindad's tips to set up for XC shortly. You might post a list ofyour mods and some digital pics in the gallery if you would, please.

Bill
