I have an 02' YZ250F, and i was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. when i kick start the bike, about the middle of the cast aluminum piece slams into the footpeg. the footpeg where it hits is bent inward and on the kicker has a big dent about half way through and i know soon its going to break off and thats part is around 100$$$.

My son has one of these bikes and his is doing the same. From what I've been told (haven't confirmed yet because bike is in shop, kickstarter stop broke and cracked case, but that's another tread) if you get the piston top dead center (fourstroke stuff) and kick, you shouldn't have to kick as hard or as many times. It will take some playing around with your bike to get the feel for where the piston is. Let me know if this works. Don't know with son's bike will get done, kickstarter stop is backorder.

Learn how to accelerate the starter quick and stop before whacking the peg, my friend can't grasp this when starting my bike. I wrapped rubber tape around the area of footpeg that it hits to absorb the shock. Have to replace the rubber tape every other month.
