I won't work. The pitch on the gears is different. The timing is different. I won't guarantee any work. blah blah blah... These are just some of the things I heard.

I don't have an odometer on mine but I have been riding at least once a week for no less than an hour since February? I probably would have gotten rid of the bike if not for that mod. Thanks for your help Brent McKinney! I'm thinking about putting some Brett McKinney fender decals on my bike.

Mine has been in for maybe a couple months.. and I have ridden almost every weekend since it's been in for atleast 3 hours.. at the most 7 hours in a day. Only prollem I have is that the bike is better than ever and the rider still sucks!

Novi, I too have experienced similar results. It took me awhile to diagnose the problem but I have come to the same conclusion. I tried ordering a high performance rider but I couldn't find one on the factory connection works website. Luckily, I found a website with a lot of tips and riding information.

Mine has been installed since May of 2003 (16 months). No problems and I just checked the cams/chain and valve clearances.....right on the money. BTW.....I ride almost every weekend.....at least when I am not on the IR list!

Not quite a year for me (not much actual bike time though) and no problems whatsoever.

Couldn't tell ya but I'm glad I did it! I rode my buddy's 02 426 last month because he wanted to see how well mine was running up in Clorado and I was cussing the first time I had to do "the drill"

DCox- it gives the 400/426 automatic decompression like the YZ 450's and CRF's have.

I'm going on six months of trail abuse and still running great. Best mod for this bike period.

It makes it start much easier. For myself, I noticed flooding the engine raely occurs. Previously, I would have to kick it about 20 times to "clear it". Now, I actually prime it with a few squirts. I can walk without a limp and no permanent bruise on the bottom of my foot.

Talking Over a year on my DCM

Beast,
I have had my 450 cam since June 2003. No problems what so ever with the cam or cam chain. I ride regularly when my back allows, more so lately.

The power is much more evenly spread across the rev range, with a really strong mid-range pull. The motor seems to want to rev freely right up to the rev limiter. I went 3 steps leaner from stock on the main jet when I did the DCM and this is a bonus of more miles per tank. (I race MX so it is moot but something for the XC guts to think about.) Starting is a breeze every time even if it has set for a while and hot starts are less of a problem, although Dr.D's magic hot start lever is still there.

I would recomend this modification to anyone with a 426 / 400 (the 400's that can accept the mod) I got rid of the decomp lever and installed a factory plug just to clean up the handlebars.

Regards,
Bill
