Default forks are leaking?

yesterday afternoon i noticed yellowish colored oil on my front rim i thought maybe it was my dog that had pee on the rim lol but it was oil i couldnt really see where it was coming from but im assuming its my forks that are leaking? can anyone help? is that expensive to fix i believe it might be the fork seals well i need help guys thanks..by the way the bike is a 2001 yz426f

You might try cleaning under the seals with a film negative and see if that helps first before you go further with a tear down.

good advice from vet 393 if you don't have a film negetive a tear off will work too.

i film negative like the ones from the cameras those little brown strips lol? is that what you guys mean by that..just checking

so are your forks leaking???? need the seals redone? my buddy clevenger does excellent suspension work he owns and operates his own business "clevenger suspension out of every shop i have had my stuff redone at none of it compares to his work so let me know if you still need work done

well i dont know if they are leaking or what like i said i just went outside and i the oil on the rim..but i checked today and theres no more oil on the rim like yesterday so i dont know

Yes, film or tear off. Sometimes a little dirt is under the seal and will allow fluid to get by in small amounts. LOL

im going to try that film strip i just wanted to be sure like i said ...it hasnt been leaking so far since that one day i havent seen no more oil on the rim but yeah im deff. going to try to clean them..another question how would i know if i need to put more oil in the forks is there a way to check that? and what would be the amount to put on that i lost my manual and they are aftermarket forks thanks guys
