Default Electronic Suspension?!

I didn't know about this until Zach Bazzy told me. Supposedly the new 2006 yz250f and 450f has electronic suspension that stiffens the faster you're going!

FROM YAMAHAS WEBSITE:
Speed-Sensitive System 48mm Kayaba fork move the TCV (transfer control valves) above the fork springs, so that damping force is now controlled by piston speed; that prevents mid-stroke damping force changes, for a smoother, more precise ride.

yall know anymore about this?! Its very interesting.
thanks

I've got a hunch that it would be more widly known if it were electronicaly controlled.

I believe it is just changing where the valve is, not electronical. I bet it comes someday, but for now, I don't believe you will see that.

Doesn't say anything about electronic. It's just a faster reating valve system.

Besides, if it were electronic, it would be listed on the specs for the 2006 bikes that are on their way over.

Suspension

Yamaha did away with the Kayaba AOS (air-oil-separate) fork and came up with a new Sł (Speed-Sensitive System) designed 48mm fork. The damping force is controlled by piston speed rather than the position of the fork. The different feel of this type of suspension might seem too soft, initially, but the all-new fork is said to feature better bump-absorbtion and improved comfort. Also improving the front suspension-feel is a wider-pitch triple clamp to reduce flex.

Wow! You'll need a long extension cord.

In other words...it's not an electronic suspension but rather mechanical one. How primative.

I was wondering how it works as well.

Mike, you and I will have the same bike soon enough. Did you go for the gold?

You just got to love a guy that has that much "Tech Talk" running around in his head.
