The Yamaha rep was in the shop and told Russ the bike has some updates and minor changes for this year. They are getting rid if the titanium foot pegs and going to the wider aluminum pegs. The muffler is some new state of the art design that makes it short (less weight) and more quiet than the 07 muffler. A few other things like suspension updates and whatnot.

Muffler is a mechanical baffling system instead of a glass packing.

I def dig the shorter can out back. The older ones are ridiculously large, IMNSHO. I like the red accents on the white one too! Red hubs, black rims, red clamps...hmmmmm

Flowmasters rock!!

No fuel injection for 2008. Yamaha does not believe they have had enough reliability testing yet for the release on the 08 bikes. Yamaha historically does extensive R & D testing before releasing anything to the public. Personally, I would rather wait a year and let them work ALL of the kinks out of the system.

I totally agree. I would rather wait and know it's right. I just figured that they would have it working well since the quads and street bikes already have had it for a while.

Did they make any changes to the YZ250?

All the rep told Russ about was the thumpers. My guess would be some suspension updates and BNG's for the smokers.

may i ask exactly what that means? i am trying to envision in my head what that would be or how it would work, but all i can see is a straight shot out from the head pipe, like the old ones.

You may...instead of baffling material they reroute the gas flow using chambers, like this...[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

This is what the Flowmaster looks like. I'll bet the YZ will have more baffles and closer together to get the db as low as possible.
