2008 YZ450F

This is a discussion on 2008 YZ450F within the 4-Stroke Motorcycles - Yamaha forum, part of the 4-Stroke Motorcycle Forums category; That animated pic is awesome. I think the short pipe really cleans up the look of the bike...

I agree that bike look great. I always hated the long silencers on the Yami's, but that's a lot better.

Mechanical exhaust eh, that's great. No more packing.

I own an 2008 YZ450F and it sounds good though it is a bit quiet.
The inside of the silencer does not look like example on that previous reply.
Looking down the end it has a baffle tube that is cone shaped and runs the length of the silencer, tapering down to a point at the front.
I do not know exactly what else is in there but as for being a mechanical baffle I am not sure of either as my spares kit has mufler matting. It also has info in the service manual about replacing the packing.

The 08 shorty does infact have packing and cone baffles. Mine is still running stroge, kick a**. Although I got rid of that shorty pipe and put a Yosh on it

The new muffler needs to be dropped kicked and be replaced with a Dr.D Ti pipe!
