Icon2 2002 YZ250F..... Off The Deep End

I just bought a 2002 YZ250F and have been out a few times. I love this bike and it rips. However, we were out last Saturday and I took a chance and trying to make it through a puddle which turned out to be a lake (water in the middle was above waist deep and I am 6'2"). When I got it out of the water, the engine was seized, so we took it to the truck, drained all the water, pulled the air filter, cleaned out that compartment, pulled and changed the spark plug and then let it sit for a little while. It started up after pulling the spark plug, but it didn't idle when the choke was put in. I have changed the oil and cleaned the air filter and gave the bike a good wash. I also drained the carb.

Any other precautions I should take and if it doesn't idle with the choke in, what could be the problem? Let me know. Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing

I'd say pull the carb out, completely clean it (make sure the jets are clear), and reset the float. It's possible that with the rush of water something in there got clogged.

Make sure you pull the choke out too and check that.

I was thinking about cleaning the carb. I always get nervous about going that deep into the bike myself. I don't believe anything is broken, I think I just need to do some simple cleaning and like you said, adjust the float and then adjust my idle. I'll keep you posted on if this works. I know a bent rod isn't the case, but thanks for the suggestion.

When I read te first response I was like,HUH??How could that bend the connecting rod?If the bike had a bent connecting rod, would it even run? Sound like a float problem,do what they said and it should run.
