Default 2002 yamaha 426 yzf fuel leak

my 426yzf leaks fuel out of what I believe is the overflow tube for the carburater, is their any way to stop this? If shut off valve is turned on it will probably empty the hole tank eventually. I removed carb and looked at float area looked like new, adjusted float a little bit and no difference. Besides this the bike runs excellent and starts good so I am a little scared to take the carb apart to much. I am new to this website any help would be appreciated.

It's likely either the float level or maybe something is hanging up the needle from seating. Ensure your float level is set correctly (search this site for a thread by "Faded" about setting your float) and make sure you take the needle out of the seat and make sure it's clean.

Thanks for the info ,the float was set incorrectly but that was not the problem, I suspect that the fuel inlet needle is not seating and stopping the gas flow . I think I will try to buy a new one and see what happens.

U are right on. Over time the rubber tip hardens and fails to seat properly. If you haven't already, also buy the new gasket for the fuel petcock. They usually wear out together.
