Default 07 125 ttr

Bought it used after having set up for 2 2 years, cleaned the tank and carb and checked for spark with multimeter. Fuel is definitely making It to the carb and spark is strong. Now it'll start but will only run for 1 or 2 seconds ... any advice? (New to dirtbike but not new to basic mechanical work )

Those bikes were setup real lean right from the factory. I had to go to a 15 pilot jet from the stock 10 in order to get it to start good, but even with that it was real cold blooded and required that the choke be on for a few minutes to start running good.

Any regular maintenance I need to be aware of other than lubes?

The factory manuals usually have a good checklist of when to check what. I know I'm missing some but here are a few items that must be checked regularly aside from changing the oil:
Spark plug
Clean/Oil air filter
Clean, lube, inspect chain along with guide and slider
clean, lube, inspect cables
check brake pads
check, clean, lube suspension bearings
fork seals/oil
shock seal/oil
Check rim spoke tightness
Top/bottom end rebuilds are part of routine maintenance. In the few bikes I've bought and sold, 2 have had cracked cases due to lack of maintenance (chunks got rolled around and broke the cases) and I rebuild a YFZ450 motor for a friend who's rod seized up because he had the original in there. It's better to change them before they go out due to the high RPM these motors operate at and that they are not a very thick aluminum in most areas.

These little bikes are bullet proof. All it needs is a clean air filter and oil changes. To get the best performance you will need a better exhaust and a better air cleaner and proper jetting.

looky here

Got new carb and she started 2nd kick no adjustments needed.
Quite surprised by how strong (for a 4 stroke 125 ) she ran. For $100 all in (had to buy throttle cable also ) I think I got a steal of a deal.
