I was there for the wreck, and I can tell you about that same barrel on that same jump because back in January I hit the same barrel.
I came close to dying because of that barrel, I couldn't walk for 2 days, I busted a Kevlar Carbon fiber helmet, knocked some teeth out, and my left leg was paralysed for about 30 min. and my hip was totally screwed up for a while.
For those that don't know there is a 4" steel pole under that barrel that supports it.

I haved learned that that is one barrel that don't move when you hit it.

Sounds like the track owner needs to do Hay bails or those tough blocks.

I was shocked to learn from flagging on that day that all the barrels are held in place by a fence post sticking clear through the barrel and some of it sticking out of the top.

I don't know if this was the case for this barrel, but the barrels that were on the jumps I flagged were all the same way.

I would think a plastic break away post would of been better.

KK broke both bones in the left hand 2" above the wrist.

The main bone if I recall completely separated.

Wow that video is sure hard to watch.

It seemed like an eternity before we knew that you were going to be okay. Glad that you didnt clock your noggin or anything.

The good news KK- you sure looked god sporting those ATm stickers on your helmet. Get better soon buddy.
