I'll let those who were there give the details, (No Riding Because Of The Rain) but the main reason for the event, (Reading "The List") was done.

The lavender room...

We had a great time, the kids had a blast and I completely enjoyed riding with everyone. The rain made everything a bit different, but we did get together for the List to be read. As with every GMB, the fellowship is far better than the riding.

It was good fun. And I took exactly ZERO pics. Probably the best ride of the day for me was chasing Daniel on the trails. Reminded me of when we used to ride in the desert.

The lavendar room rocks!!

It started raining Saturday around 2:00 and stopped sometime Monday morning!! Track was closed Sunday but they opened up the gates for us. Mr. Berg (I dont know how he does it) read the list as we all huddled under the easy up.

I took 150 or so pictures, will try and post some tonight, I tried yesterday and seems my gallery is full

Mr Berg picked me up from the airport on friday and we headed to the best BBQ place in the country to slop up a couple of pounds of meat. We made a run to the local liquor store to stock up on some libations and off to the party we went. Besides the same ole mugs, i got to meet a few fresh faces this year and toasted Ernie and Boyd throughout the night via cell phone pic exchanges.

Saturday, my joke to MXMama about getting a new bike came true. her hubby bought her a brand new CR125, so I helped her break it in. I also got to ride Howard's 525 tree stump puller and Jayson's 450 yami-Thank you guys! Other than the numerous rollers that were placed in the straightaways, I really loved the new track. The jump faces were actually jump faces that helped lift you up and over the jumps without having to be pinned in 5th gear, LOL. The dirt was awesome as usual. Loved the trails, dirt drag strip complete with timing lights and tree, and the mud bog pit. that place will be killer by next year.

After the track, we all headed out for some good mexican food and margaritas. later that night we headed over to daveprag's house where he and his wife graciously hosted us for drinks and apps. The Blue was a rollin and a hardy discussion on assault weapons ensued!

Sunday rolled around and the good Lord found it appropriate to help remind us of what this get together is all about. Although the track was closed for riding, the few that made the trip out, gathered around, under a tent, reminiscing and conversing about anything and everything. The mood was joyous at times, reflective at times and truly somber at times. The List was read by Mr Berg and those that rode were remembered and honored with no hoopla or fanfare. There was an appropriateness to the tone, weather and mood that I find difficult to explain. During those intense few minutes, I venture to say that everyone's focus was on each name, on Garrett, on the Bergs and our own families. We werent thinking about the race that was forthcoming or whether or not the bike was setup properly, or anything else. Another unexpected and pleasing moment that transpired because of the tone set by the small, focused group, was Shanon's "opening up". This was my first time hearing her personalize the moment. Very touching.

After another round of BBQ, we readied ourselves for a night out at the Boardwalk. After several bloody marys, tanquerays and a killer dinner overlooking the boardwalk, we called it a night.

The difficulties that faced the event this year are too numerous to list and have been well documented. As I watched the weather reports friday and saturday, an uneasiness fell over me. How could this be, I asked. As we approached the empty track that Sunday morning and noticed the water running off the jumpfaces, a sense of sadness fell within me. My mind went back to the previous years' experiences. Experiences too numerous to keep straight. experiences that melted one into another, difficult to distinguish from one year to another. I quickly realized that this year it would be different. A small group of people under an awning, in the drizzle, honoring the names on The List. It doesnt get any simpler than that, yet it also doesnt get any more powerful than that, either. This yea'rs GMB will forever stand out on its own, not to be melted into any other memory of GMBs past. Hopefully those that were able to attend and those that chose to attend on Sunday left with similar appreciation.

Thanks for the recaps. Let me see if I have this straight...Seems attendence was down a little bit and there was some riding on Saturday, it rained on Sunday causing the days riding to be cancelled. Got to read "The List" and then everyone split? Sound right?

Without wanting to sound like a jerk but I guess if I had to miss a year this was a good one to miss. Next year will be better cause I'll be there!!! OMG, I sound like Macho!!!

Well, yes. If you attend a GMB for the racing and race day festivities, this was the one to miss. If you attend to honor Garrett, fallen riders, saturday riding, camaraderie, friday and saturday night festivities, then you missed out....jerk,

Man whata bummer. I really wanted to be there but I will say had a good visit with the bro-in-law this weekend. He's hoppin' on a plane back to the sandbox tomorrow so it was definately time well spent. Sorry I couldn't be there and I'll definately try for next year.
