Hello I’m new to atm and to bikes as well I raced bmx for 8 years and now I want a new challenge. So I bought me a 01 YZ125, but it’s a huge transition between the two.
ANY suggestions.

Thanks

Well a lot of those BMX skills youv'e learnt will give you a big headstart, balance is a key factor , moving your weight, weighting the pegs, and high elbow action in the corners. The head position is always over the bars, grip the back of the bike with your legs at the air box, not at the tank learn to ride in standup position a lot. In flat corners stay on top of it more, in ruts and berms, lean with it more. When jumping don't chop the throttle on the up ramp or you will nose dive, maintain a constant throttle untill the back wheel leaves the ground, if you find yourself front wheel up, tap the back brake in the air. A lot of this you will know from bmx, just enjoy it and don't ride above your limit, good luck with it and stretch first before you ride!

Thank yall very much, I just took the dirt from my old track and made a decent moto x track. I have a four foot tall launch and landing with a mellow lip and transition, a few turns (ect) so when jumping do I need to goose the throttle just a bit or just maintain speed through the jump. Because in bmx you get your speed before the jump then coast, but I found out on a dirt bike that is not the case.

constant throttle till the back wheel leaves the ground. Braaaap! If you shut off on the up ramp your going down, head first!

practice makes perfect bro. Try small jumps and keep the throttle steady, no wheel spin at all. You can keep the throttle on throu the jump, but if you have wheel spin when doing so, you're going to end up on your back. Sometimes if a jump has a lip on it, you might need to blip the throttle. The NO WHEEL SPIN, will get you in the air and insure a safe return back to the ground, unless the jump has a lip or a kicker on it. Then throttle, brake and body position all come into play.
