Moto Some help riding on the road ?

So i came here before asking for good starter DB's for a bigger guy and was welcomed to the community with lots of wonderful people with great answer.

So i'm back once again to ask about riding on the road ?, So i haven't done this much nor have i got use to my clutch and all. So i was wondering when i come to a complete stop at a stop light, do i hold down the clutch and down shift into first in order to be able to take off again ?.

The last time i left it in the gear i was in, riding on the trail 4th gear to be exact, when i came to a complete stop and revved it up to take off, it completely stalled and shut off, so is down shifting the factor i'm missing out on doing ? or am i not holding the rev's up high enough ?

I'd be thankful for the help and any other riding tips. ~ Devilz

Thank you, i was rather confused at it, and for a beginner i haven't been dumb enough to ride on the Road as of now.

I mainly practice out in the desert on the empty flattened lots quite a lot of them out here. I'll keep in mind if i ever do decide to do some road ridin' to get across town to pop the clutch and shift into first.

Thanks for the advice. ~ Devilz
