Any tips for us short guys ? 5'4 165 2005 yz250f 80 % CC 20 % MX riding.
I have noticed a softer set up really helps in CC .

The typical short set up includes lowering supension with aftermarket linkage or custom lowering by suspension shop, shaved seat foam, different bars, foot pegs.

I ride with a guy about your height that has a very modded crf250 engine in a BBR CR85 frame, he kicks butt in the A class against standard sized 250f's.

Softening the rear suspension does seem to help. As does raising the fork tubes in the clamps. But you already knew that. I am 5'-6" and ride 250's. Sometimes in the woods it really sucks to be short. However, I think it makes me a better rider. Arn't you supposed to keep your feet on the pegs? But I know sometimes you need to "dab". I learned to slide over the seat real quick from one side to the other. When I was a kid and 5' tall the bikes were short, but tall for me. When I grew up, the bikes got taller, so I am in the same boat. I guess I am used to that. (Ricky Carmichael is 5'-4") Bubba Stewart looks about the same.

This link lowers the bike a full 1.75-2 inches, combine that with shaving your seat an inch or so, and you'll be firmly planted on the ground. I did it and love it. It's a pretty easy install and they give you complete instructions and a you-tube video as a reference. and it's reverseable if you ever want to sell the bike.

Being short and riding bigger bikes does suck sometimes. Im about 5'5" and ride a cr250 which prolly is bout the same height as your 250f I cant sit with my butt on the seat and touch the ground i always have to slide to the side and pretty much have my thigh on the seat to touch ground. but as far as when im riding i have no problems if i have to throw a foot down im normally good while im going. sometime if i get in a tight spot and need to put a foot down and cant touch i normally fall over get laughed at and ****. but i dont care i still ride the crap outta my bike lol. anyways prolly not much tips for ya but just giving you my experience. ride hard but be careful!1

I'm 5'3" and I rode my friends crf250 and I have a very hard time starting it lol but after riding my yfz450 which is like 350lbs and his 250f is 200lbs you can really soar threw the air!! I just try to start and stop at a dirt pile lol.
I would like to race but I wouldn't be able to start, unless I used the guy next too my as a support lol
