Any tips for us short guys ? 5'4 165 2005 yz250f 80 % CC 20 % MX riding.
I have noticed a softer set up really helps in CC .

The typical short set up includes lowering supension with aftermarket linkage or custom lowering by suspension shop, shaved seat foam, different bars, foot pegs.

I ride with a guy about your height that has a very modded crf250 engine in a BBR CR85 frame, he kicks butt in the A class against standard sized 250f's.

Softening the rear suspension does seem to help. As does raising the fork tubes in the clamps. But you already knew that. I am 5'-6" and ride 250's. Sometimes in the woods it really sucks to be short. However, I think it makes me a better rider. Arn't you supposed to keep your feet on the pegs? But I know sometimes you need to "dab". I learned to slide over the seat real quick from one side to the other. When I was a kid and 5' tall the bikes were short, but tall for me. When I grew up, the bikes got taller, so I am in the same boat. I guess I am used to that. (Ricky Carmichael is 5'-4") Bubba Stewart looks about the same.

This link lowers the bike a full 1.75-2 inches, combine that with shaving your seat an inch or so, and you'll be firmly planted on the ground. I did it and love it. It's a pretty easy install and they give you complete instructions and a you-tube video as a reference. and it's reverseable if you ever want to sell the bike.
