a good start 2 me is second last into the first turn LOL.

Do a google search on Gary Semics, he has a start technique that many pros used a few years ago. Weight forward, left foot between shifter and foot peg, bike in 2nd, clutch to the point just short of engagement, eye on the gate pin. When the gate goes down, hammer it (wot) while using the clutch to keep the front tire a few inches off the ground for the first few feet. When its time to shift into 3rd just raise your already dragging left leg up and thru the shifter. If done right, the foot peg will also come up.

As far as my credentials, I watch every MX National on TV and even attend one. Although Ive only raced twice in my life and had a horrible start, I did sleep at a Holiday INN Express and feel really refreshed with the new high pressure shower heads. Oh...and I have taken the Semics course.

I'll have Tracy pipe in after she gets off work tonight. Heres a video of her on her 125 with a few starts. She rode that season as beg the rest of the field were Nov/Int mostly on 250fs...although we have dead engine starts in the desert she can still elaborate on the MX stuff.
