1. grip the bike more with your knees

2. stay hydrated

3. stock up on potassium (bananas) before riding

4. stretch well before and while riding

5. make sure the brake and clutch lever positions aren't contributing to the problem, not too high or too low

6. take a couple ibprofin before riding

7. ride more often, that helps the most

Don't grip the bars very tight. Ride relaxed and breath deep.

yep, i agree with everything that Privateer said. One of the things to practice is tell yourself to breath. Sometimes i catch my self holding my breath when im blitzing through a whoop section at the dunes. In the nose, out the mouth. I can't remember the reasoning.. but when i was in Bio a year ago i learned that if you breath through your nose.

Also, gripping the bike more with your knees and legs will help you ease up on your grip on the bars. And yes, staying hydrated before and while you ride is very important.

I usually take about 2 ibuprofen before i ride, and it actually helps. The asprin helps to thin out your blood, so with your blood thinned out, it will flow more easily through your arms.

Most of all, get out and ride! The more constant i am with my riding the less arm-pump i seem to get. If I go out 2-3 times a week and ride for 3-4 hours each time, the arm pump seems to be a lot less each time. and it wouldn't hurt to work out the arms some. I'm sure more ppl will drop in and give better techniques!!

French curls and isometric curls will help condition your forearms. Also a weight suspended on a stick(cut off broom stick will do) and roll up the rope on the stick. repeat as many times as possible. And ride ride ride.

yeah you got a lot of good feedback. one other thing..i had the same problem and i got a tip from my buddy who races canadian national series. he says if you lower your bars as much as possible while keeping things comfortable your arms will tire out wayyyy slower. i did it and it works
