For what it's worth you should also be on the balls of your feet too, not at the arch of your foot. this alows your whole legs to act as shock absorbers and not just the top part. Jimmy Button had a great article in MXA I believe about blitzing whoops and he also said that 90% of it is mental. Stay on the throttle and keep the frontend light. Good luck bro!!!!!

ok... check this, for what its worth. just my .02 tho. obviously, as someone said before, all whoops are not the same, and most of your local tracks wont have high-quality built whoops (all same size/depth/peak/ect..).. buuttt for a perfect set of whoops, i htink this is how its done : Ride a 4 stroke... they track better and liek to go straight unlike 2smokes come into the whoops in as tall as gear as you can.. if you tell a pro to hit whoops in 2/3 they will laugh at you. taller gear the better.. most pros go thru whoops ni 4th and 5th gear. The taller gear keeps the motor at a steady, low rpm, keeping the suspension working better, and also keeping the bike straight and not swapping. Toes IN!..stay on the balls of your feet, and keep your toes pointed in.. this will also help you grip the bike with your legs without thinkign about it. LEAN BACK... but not too far... the faster you go, the less you will have to lean back... but you have to really be going fast for that.. i think only stewart and RC can go thru whoops in a neutral body posistion. DONT WHEELIE!!!! contrary to what peopel say, you dont ever want to Wheelie thru a whoop section if you aer trying to blitz them. you want yoru front tire to hit every whoop just on the top...enough to keep the suspensoin and your bike level...this is where teh elbows up theory comes in as well ACCELERATE! acceleration will keep your front end from dropping into a whoop and sending you flying. steady throttle will usually work if the section is not SUPER long Hang on! Dont let go...it could get ugly ::: for ur average whoops tho... i think its a matter of using your legs as suspension, and leaning back as most guys say.. but if you ever come across soem SX or AX type whoops, u got it!

I was also having a heck of a time with whoops at first, but I needed to make some adjustments to the rear shock. Adjusted the compression and that made a world of difference. What was happening was my front tire was dropping down towards the end of the whoop section, but I still had my body leaned back and never got off the gas. Softened up the high compression a little and that made things a whole lot better. Don't know if this will help anyone but that is what worked for me. Unless you have the bike working properly no matter what riding position or amount of throttle will help. just my .02
