Thumbs up XR400s Rock

For anyone looking for a fun trail/play bike. The Honda XR 400 is a lot of bike. These bikes are so comfortable and easy to ride it is unbelievable. Plus they are pretty cheap and very easy to maintain. I recently decided to try a WR so my XR had to go but I will always love that bike.

I agree. The 400 is a very good no frills bike. I loved riding them. The one area that I did not like is the lack of excess power up top to pull the front end when hauling tail. Other than that, it is a GREAT workhorse.

Amen Sisters I tihink the XR is a great bike. I too disliked the fact they are hard to get the front end off the ground, so I bought a Edlebrock Pumper Carb. Its a little pricey but I love the performance.

Is this on the 400 that you listed in the classifieds?

I have to admit, I was looking for an XR 400 before I rode the Yammie 426. Couldn't find an XR to save my life so I was thinking about buying a new one. Then I rode a 426 one day and it scared me. It followed me home a few weeks later. I still miss the reliability and ease of use the XR's have!

Talking XR 400 lover

I owe my return to dirt bikes to the 2000 XR 400 I got to start back with John. they are stone reliable, quiet and have excellent trail manners. I just wish I could have kept it too ehen I got my YZ 426.

Thumbs up Re: XR400s Rock

I ride a 96 and it's been stone reliable. Probably needs rings and valve seals but jeeze every time I start it, it just runs. I would check the compression but I just don't want to know. LOL

My only real problem is I have short legs and I'm old so this means I do a lot of laugh in falls. Hey, it dosen't get any better.

Above all else, reliability rules.
