What kind of racing are you going to be doing? If you are going to be doing harescrambles, that setup should suit you well. Instead of bolting on new forks (lots of time, money etc..) try sending your current forks and shock off to a suspension company. They can revalve and re-spring them to work best for you. I think thumper-racing.net has good stuff for xr's

Newf, you pretty much have it covered, except for the suspension (follow my advice). You want the bike to : Be reliable, Get good traction, Have a strong motor, survive a crash, and handle well. Make your parts choices around those guidelines.

You dont really need the valves, or the high flow header. You can take you stock header and grind the welds down on the inside where it meets the cylinder head and it will flow alot more exhaust. You could keep your stock carb and spend time dialing it in, but if you dont wanna waste the time and effort on it and the money is burning a hole in your pocket you can get that carb. Like what was said you could get the CR forks, but you'd be much better off sticking with the stock forks and having it vlaved and resprung, and throwing on a fork brace would also help the XR forks. The graphics on an XR are kind of a waste of money. Once you replace the stock graphics you will have a hard time getting anything else to stick and stay on the tank, due to the gas vapors coming through the tank it will make them bubble. Why not race the thing first and then see what all you need to replace if anything at all. No sense spending alot of money on stuff you dont really need.................but the exhaust is a good investment.

Instead of the CR forks, just get the forks RE-VALVED to withstand harder impacts. Conventional make way better off-road forks than USD type do.
