So I finally called all the "premier" Honda dealers in the state of Utah and found 1 (no more no less) black Limited edition CRF450R. So here is the kicker, and I knew it wouldn't be good, they want $8,380.00 OTD I really don't care about the plastic, as black is really not my thing. The rims were all I really wanted. But at that price I can get the RED '08 for $7,200 OTD. That's 1100 more I can get REAL aftermarket rims and hubs for less than that -- not to mention the quality would be a lot better. So needless to say, I won't be spending any more time looking or even thinking about anything other than a RED CRF450.

To be honest, I like the Limited Edition, but..it seems like the black would get old quick. But, black rims on the red one... EDIT: Shoei: If you buy JUST the black wheels, you can get them for $150-200. Or get the powder coated.

You can get a compete wheel sets from RadMfg for a little more than $600 --> RAD Manufacturing RAD Mfg ECONO HUBS & WHEEL KITS The kit I linked to is at least better than stock, and you would still be ahead.

wow, 8380.00 is a little steep. i paid 7000.00 otd for a LE back in october when they first hit the showroom floors. i was willing to pay a couple of hundred dollars extra but that was it. i certainly wouldnt pay the 1000.00 they are asking. i pulled the black plastic off anyway!!

Woody, There is a dealer in Kendalville here that has a black CRF....I actually stopped in and looked at in on my way down to Indy, $7300 out the door.....not sure what shipping would do though. lol Oh and on that sticker price on the red one......we may need to look into some shipping options cause I am SURE I can get you a WAY better price then what you are at. Under 7 with taxes for SURE.

Has anyone ever powder coated their rims? I was considering getting it done but I am not sure how that would work out? If I left the spokes on, would I be able to tighten them after powder coating? I am certainly not going to relace the wheel myself, that is tuff work right there.

Apparently Shelby took a picture of one at 3 Palms awhile back...I didn't even know until I went through the pictures...a rather fuzzy, crappy photo though. They are nice to look at...

Just to throw this out... an option may be to see if shipping from Texas to Utah is any cheaper than from Indiana to Utah. Of course, you'd have to wait until after the first weekend in May to have it shipped. BTW... this is somewhat off-topic, but there is a guy that was life-flighted out of 3P's this weekend. He was riding one of the black 450r's. Apparently he wadded it up pretty good, here's a copy of part of the post from HMX. "He has some skull fractures, broken pelvis, among other injuries. He's awake and in good spirits. The word is he wants everyone to know his stuff is for sale" Maybe not the best option, but an option nonetheless.
