Default Frame Rail Coolant Overflow For CRF 450

Just some info...I was looking for some information on overheating issues with the CRF 450 when I saw some pictures that were posted by a member on this site. Very clean installation by the way. Anyways, just wanted to let know whoever is concerned, that this modification cannot be done with the 05 CRF 450. Unfortunatly, I had the holes drilled and tapped before I found out that the frame downtube is not closed off at the bottom when the frame rails begin. A great mod for pre 05 machines, clean and out of the way. O-well. I believe that the CRF450x will have a coolant return bottle just like the 250x, so that might be the way to go for 05 model owners.

That was the only drawback to the mod...once the motor cooled off, it could not reclaim the coolant lost. Motion Pro makes a nice "surge bottle" that mounts just about anywhere that will allow the cooling system to reclaim any lost coolant when it needs it. Tdub
