If you guys are like me you hate to see your bike plastic get all jacked up for no reason. When I mounted the whip flag for the dunes on my bike on the rear axle bolt it was scratching my silencer and plastic all up. Here is what I did to fix the problem. 1. I drilled a 1/8 in hole about a 1/4 in from the end of the stinger. 2. I then ran a normal key ring through the hole in the stinger. 3. I then reamed the mounting bracket hole out so it would sit behind the axle nut better without hitting the axle nut everytime I turned it. 4. I then wrapped the flag stick with some duct tape in the area it will rub on the key ring. 5. Lastly I feed the flag through the key ring and mount on the bracket. This works great. No more jacked up plastic from a flag. The best part is when you take the keyring out and the bracket off there are no visible blemishes on the bike.

Very nice. I will have to do the same on mine, since it totally sucks if you don't do something about it. You can't even tighten the thing down. Good Work.

One thing I think could be improve on is my rough reaming on the bracket. All I had was a drill bit so I made due....but if you had a file or something else you could make the bracket look and fit a lot better.

I don't get out to ride the dunes much but when i do i use the axle mount bracket as well. but i turn the axle backwards that way the flag stays in between the left number plate and rear fender. I don't know if you are suppose to turn the axle around or not, any comments would be appreciated. thanks mike.

I don't see why that would be a big deal. I don't claim to have any knowledge on this though. But it seems like it shouldn't hurt anything.

Good idea as well Mike. One thing I forgot to do was take the bracket off before I went riding mx this weekend. I had the bike washout in some turns and bent the bracket.
