Default Electric start for Crf450r?

I've been searching the WWW and have had little luck. Also little luck with a light kit. ie:head light/tail light Anybody try to switch the 450x components? Will it work with '03 frame? Will i have to spend mucho denero$$$???? I'd hate to have to buy a new bike just to get lights and stuff. Law in the land now it's required to have lights so i figured check the electric start as well. Anyway whatever info you guys have will be great. Thanks .

The lights and kill swicth are pretty much just cosmetics. I see no reason they wouldn't work on an '03 but I'm not speaking from experience. Your local Honda shop should be able to set you up. I'll make a note to speak with my dealer tomorrow.

Ya I'v been looking there it says something about sending my stator in for a rewind before it will work and it all seems a little pricy. I'm hopping to find something much cheeper.

Most stock wound lighting stator/coils don't have a lot of oomph. Baja designs supposedly do a good job with lights. There are lights and there are LIGHTS!!! I think if you plan on being a night rider, your safety is worth better visibility. JMO.

I have a buggy with stock lighting system, the lights are pretty weak. I can make it back to camp with them, but they don't inspire confidence at night.

Might want to give him a call and tell him what you're needing. He may be able to point you in the right direction?

www.steahlyoffroad.com

All u need is to pick between one of the headlight designs DHH is my fav. Then If u want more wattage u can buy bigger bulbs. If u want a tail lighht they have those too.

After that u need to buy a lighting coil for your bike. There like $180. All u need to do is remove the flywheel with a flywheel remover tool. Then take out the stock coil and place in the aftermarket coil. They will have a specific coil for your 2003 crf450r.

Then u need to buy a wire harness so u can wire it up. $16

Then you need to buy the switch they have so u can turn the lights on and off. $23

And lastly you will need to buy a voltage regulator so that you headlight doesnt burn out. $15

Rhe online store go to part number L-1495 Its the coil for the all crf450s.

Total it will cost around $330

The last time I checked with the local conservation officer I was told you did not need the actual lights BUT, your bike does have to have a lighting coil. Just hang some wires out from beneath your tank and tell them its from your coil . I'll check and see if they are actually enforcing lights. You ride the Cadomin area right?

There's no getting around the fact that it takes electricity to make lights work and the stock CRF doesn't make much of it. If you don't need to ride at night just get a cheep internal lighing coil/stator. If you actually want to be able to see well in the dark get a 200wt e-line/bajadesigns stator. Most all the major plastic companies and bajadesigns make head and tail lights. For the tail light I like the bajaD LED unit.

Default has it been done ??????????

Ok I found this thread by searching electric start for a 2005 CRF450R. You talk about Lights and Stators But will a Starter Bolt on? Is there a Mounting Place. If Cost wasnt an issue could it be done? I do not Want a CRF450X because the gearing and Steering Head angle is Diferent. Not to mention i have 2 tons of $$$$ in my bike and like it. I Just cant start it hot when i am Tired, i only Weigh 150lbs Soaking wet with Gear. Oh yea it has a High Compression Athena 490 kit on it............
