crf450x starter compatability

Default crf450x starter compatability

does anybody know if the 450x starter is interchangeable with any other x models bike?? my starter is toast, and im in need of a new one, but 200 bucks for a new one, i think id rather kick the damn thing. any info is greatly appreciated! thanks

My battery died in the spring on my 250X and I have been kicking it every since. Just habit I suppose, the starter is nice, but I only rarely ever used it.

yea, i was kicking mine ever since i got it, but when i blew the left case halve out, i rebuilt the whole motor, and with all that, a new battery. come to find out, my starter is shot.

Just replace the brushes and the springs...not alot of stuff going on in that starter...

If you can get to the brushes and springs, make sure before you change them, you clean the communtator with emery cloth and then clean the grooves between the brass poles with a knife or small file.

yea, i ttried all that, but my "armature" main shaft as i would call it, is burnt smelllin, brown, black, and doesnt turn very smooth at all.....
