i run the Honda HP stuff in my CRF250. i would also get the JD jetting kit because it made my CRF250 a rocket ship and im sure it would make your bike fly as fast as the speed of light.

First off welcome to atm. Second, probably the biggest reason I run the same in both is just the ease of having one oil for both sides. I currently run Mobil 1 Red Cap 15w50, but will soon be switching to Shell rotalla T synth because it's cheaper, but just as good. As far as tips... What you looking for?

You probably already know all this, but here are some of the things I have learned that were passed on to me and proved to be true: 1. In the first few hours check your spokes frequently. They loosen up quick and need to be tightened until they are finished seating themselves. 2. Grease the rear shock linkage and front steering stem. They are skimpy on grease from the factory and you will double the life of your bearings (Belray waterproof grease is one way to go). 3. Listen to whatever Woody_CRF says about oil--he has looked into it pretty solidly. 4. I like to put teflon tape under my clutch and front brake controllers on all my bikes. This way when I fall over, it doesn't break or bend as easily, but rather just twists in place and can be easily readjusted. 5. On the '04's people are finding a 49 (as opposed to 48) stock rear tooth on the sprocket is much more all around desirable. If you decide to do this, toss the stock chain and put a good o or x-ring in its place. If the sprockets have some wear, replace them as well. Note: With an o or x-ring chain, you will need a spacer behind the front sprocket so the chain doesn't rub the case. 6. Tighten stuff up once you break it in a good bit. Some blue locktite on things that rattle loose is used by many. 7. Be careful about crud falling into the airbox when it comes filter cleaning time. These airboxes--even on the '04--are not exactly designed by NASA. 8. Set race sag to 100mm on rear. Most of all, have a lot of fun! There is more, but I can't think of it right now.

Thanks DCox... On the air box, the only problems with it were in '02. The '03 and beyond are just fine.

Yes they are different...there was a frame change, among other things, to the '05. You'll have to do some fabrication to make the '05 stuff fit, it doesn't just bolt-up.
