Unhappy 2006 CRF450R Clutch Noise???

I been through a few threads on here about clutch noises, but nothing that is directly related to CRF's. First of all, I've already did an oil change to see if that was the problem, but the noise is still there.
The noise is like a clank or knock, but it only happens when I'm not pulling the clutch lever. When it's pulled in, even the tiniest bit, the noise goes completely away. Some of the threads on YZ's and YZF's say it's normal for some Yamahas to do that, could it be normal for CRF's too?
I change my oil every two rides and i'm very particular about keeping up on maintenance. I haven't owned the bike long, but I swear I can't recall ever hearing this noise. Please help.

Does it do it when your are going fast or slow?Lugging or high RPM?Sounds like the chain is slapping on the swing arm.

The only time I notice the noise is when the bike is in neutral with the clutch lever out.

That is exactly what I was thinking. The honda does it bad, especially when lugging it.

Oh, that's very different.

Hmm, I don't have any idea, but it's very easy to check the clutch and see what's up.

Lay the bike on it's side (clutch side up).

Remove the rear brake lever

Remove the 10 or so 8mm bolts and take the cover off. You can then inspect to see what might be making that noise.

Cant even think of what that might be,do what woody said and make sure your basket is nice and smooth and your plates arent worn.If the basket is fine then the rest is easy, remove the bolts and just get new plates and springs.Never heard of a knock in the clutch how does the clutch engage? It is common for 4-strokes to jump in gear but does it jump and then keep pulling? If you want your clutch to last longer then when you are sitting still with the bike running either turn it off or put it in neutral.Leaving it in gear and sitting with clutch in isnt good for it and will cut its life span.

My clutch basket in my little thumper is stock and ive been riding it for 2 and a half years I change my clutch springs and plates all the time to keep the power to the ground and make clutch last longer.Hope you figure it out
