Default 02-03 CRF

Hi,

can somebody point out the diffrences between the 2002 and 2003 CRF450 please.Cheers

There are a couple of differences. First the airbox, filter, and cage was designed not to suck dirt like the 02 does. The exhaust was shortened to provide more snap as was the new cam. The swingarm pivot was lowered, and the spring rates were changed slightly. A few other odds and ends but the bottom line is this....get the 03!!!!

  • "Improved" Foot Peg Location (Lower I think)
  • New Shock Linkage Raised Swing Arm Pivot (7mm)
  • Above Contributes to Steeper (27*) Steering Head Angle
  • Stiffer Rear Spring (5.5)
  • Revalved Front Forks w/Larger Piston and 10mm Longer Stroke
  • New Air Box
  • New Camshaft Profile
  • Shorter Pipe (50mm)
  • Revised Ignition Maps
  • Revised Carb Jetting
  • Lighter (232 lbs wet, no gas)
  • Longer Shift Lever (10mm)
  • Revised Clutch Damper for Improved Traction
  • Thicker, Stronger Frame Downtube
  • Stronger, Stiffer Cast Top and Bottom Engine Hangers

Default CRF 02/03

Thanks for the treplys,are there any other diffrences I can see?like the exhaust,I'v been offered a supposedly 03 CRF,just wanted to check it is an official 2003 bike.

The 10th number on the VIN should be a 3 for 2003, or a 2 for 2002.
