Default Universal Clamp Kit

As an alternative to purchasing upper triple clamps, I came across these clamp kits, and wonder if any of you have used them? They seem like they should work just fine, but I want to get your opinions on them.

I am 6' tall and actually like the fact that they raise the bars by 3/4". I currently run the stock CRF bars (which seem a little short, when I'm standing), which I'm guessing is just called the CR bend??? Anyway, I want to get new pro-tapers, so give me your opinions. I'm going to do another thread about bars and bends, since I have tons of questions about bends etc.

Is it worth the money for the more expensive ones?

Tusk Universal Big Bar Clamp Kit - $34.99

Azonic Double Cross Clamp Kit - $49.99

Answer Pro-Taper Universal Clamp Kit - $62.99

Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and order their motorcycle accessory catalog. In the begining of the handelbars/controls section they have a chart that shows the width, height, and pull back of the different bends for Pro-taper, Pro-taper AC3, Azonic Deluxe wall, Renthal, Twinwall, MSR, TAG, FMF 909, and Tusk handle bars.

Woody I would say if you are planning on getting the tusk brand go for it. If you are thinking about the ProTaper brand for $62. go ahead and get the entire triple clamp. They can be had for around $100. They are supposed to be more rigid and add to the cool factor. Just my opinion.

Thanks guys... funny you should say go to rocky mountain... they pics are links to RM. RM is based in UT, so last time I was there I picked up 2 of their winter catalogues, but I didn't know about the bar stuff in there, so thanks for the tip. That helped a lot.

I think I will go with the tusk, and get some pro-taper CR high.

you can also check out pro taper's site, they have all the dimensions of their bars and bends.. in metric.. so just remember.. 25.4mm per inch...lol

i would suggest saving and getting the upper clamp.. i have two that are on my wish list, unfortunately, one precludes the use of the other...

i would like the RTT damper. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] since i want a damper and this is slick, and i spoke to somone that has one and he loved it.

the other thing are the RG3 upper triple clamps...

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

with the rubber posts.. so many toys so little dosh......

I tried Protaper.com last night and their site was down, so I just used the RM catalogue.

I would love the RG3's too, but the price is never going to let me get them any time soon.

Good call, no use getting new ones when the stockers should work just fine motoring around the in-law apartment just fine.

woody..
how did you know i sit on the couch with the bars in my hands, watching motocross races.... now if i can figure out how to hook up my PS2 controller to the bars so i can play MX superfly.... lol

Rockey..
i hear, for me it would be cheaper to go slow enough to not need the damper...lol besides, no one hands me a check for riding at the end of the day....

Woody, I've ridden a coupe bikes with the risers like your talking about. I have to say I enjoyed it and have seen them take a good crash without giving into any breaks. I'd use them if I wanted big bars without a different triple clamp.

Woody I thought you were gonna be replacing the whole bike anyway? What's the story¿
