Default Stearing dampeners? Who's #1

If this is an old topic my bad I couldn't find any old posts. I want to get a dampener system for my 01' 426f. There must be a 1/2 doz. to pick from. One system I found very interesting( [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ) and priced farely considering what you get in the package. Scotts system is the OG of stabelizers but the puck itself is $400. The WER and GPR systems seem to be the realitively new kids on the block. My question is who's the best? The RTT system has 1 huge drawback and thats if it needs repair the whole unit has to be shipped back (triple clamp and all). Another draw back to the unit is that it stays with the bike. You just can't switch it out like the Scotts puck. The cool part of the unit is the remote thumb control (on/off/50%) plus it looks good. I want the under mount no matter what brand. Does anyone in the ATM family have the RTT system? I'm tired of the bars getting ripped out of my hands from ruts. I want to make the right choice do to the $. Any feedback helps.

nope this isnt off topic, well i dont have a damper but my neighbor has one on his 2000 yz 426 and he runs "Scotts Steering Damper", it runs you about $350 but from what i have heard, its worth it, especially in the woods and desert

Yeah, I've rode a yz450 with one. Scotts puck (the hydro unit) can be switched out to your next bike. You'll need new triple clamps and dog bone but you save $ on the unit itself. I been into harescrambles and woods riding my whole life. I'm no serious racer by any strech, I'm just getting old. I find hanging on to he bars at the end of the day a real chore. This RTT co. is WEST COAST so nobody around my neck of the woods has this unit. We all know that when you talk to a rep from any aftermarket co all you get is positive feedback.:

I have a group of guys I ride with and one of them has the Scotts and the other has the WER. The Scott's unit is a little more adjustable but the WER still worked just fine. If I were to buy one, it would be the cheaper WER for my type of riding. I don't like a lot of dampening, i just want it to stop the bars from being yanked out of my hands if I clip a side rut, rock or a tree.

Seems like dirtbikndad393 has a GPR unit, but I'm not positive. He rides desert and can probably give you some good feedback. I know macho393 had a Scott's on his woods bike.

personally, I used to run a Scotts on my rmx250, rode mostly in the desert on high speed stuff. It made a world of difference and was well worth the money. I think you'll find that once you get one, you'll always wonder what took so long.

After a month or so of reading & procrastination, I came up with this one as my choice.

I've got three rides on it so far and I must say, what a difference! Took about 30 min to install, fit and finish and instructions are exellent. After playing with the easy to reach adjuster I found the sweet spot for my riding style in different situations. At first, I thought "What's the big deal?" Then my riding pards noticed I was running down monster hills & long rocky sections way faster, and asked me if I had a deathwish or something. I thought the trails somehow got easier, but they said "Nope".
No more beat up hands, arms don't take a week to recover now and it feels like I stole someone's new bike.

great product..
Just wondering wheter they make a bar pad to fit over it.
