Novice needs some direction… I’ve been reviewing some past forum posts of related problems but am still a little confused as to where to begin. My 02 CR125 Husqvarna bogs badly when the throttle is nailed. Runs decent if you keep it under half throttle but as soon as you get hard on the gas it bogs/dies. Sometimes, if you sneak up on the revs, it runs fine and screams at full throttle. Otherwise, if you just nail it, it dies. The bike idles fine, runs fine if not wide open and always starts fist kick. My guess is a carb problem. I’m not the original owner so I have no idea what the current jetting is. Going to clean the carb and check the float level… Just looking for some additional suggestions. Thanks

WELCOME TO Sounds like ur headn in the right direction. Have you ever changed the plug? does it foul spark plugs? Check your reeds while you have your carb off, inspect for chips.

Hey, Welcome to ATM. Your definatly heading in the right direction with cleaning the carb and checking the float level. The Knowledge base threads are really helpful. Knowledge base If you get into a bind just type away. Good luck -Kevin-

Sorry for posting twice here but one other thing you may want to try. The next time you go out, turn your choke on and see if that helps the off idle response. If it does, you may have a lean in the air screw, pilot and/or needle area. See ya -Kevin-

Re: Newbie with a carb problem I hope Faded or OSSA GP1 picks up here but I'll offer that a sticking closed float needle may be giving you the problem. Just a hunch, I'll see if the true gurus can get on this one for you. Best of luck and Welcime to ATM Bill

Oops, Sorry Kenny Didn't mean to belittle you at all. You do a terrific job here, too. I just like to get the "Old Guys" (HeeHee) to look at things. I know, I know I have over 30 years of age on Faded, just a lame joke. Seriously, Kenny is someone to listen to, he is knowledgeable and pretty understandable to boot. Listen to his advice. Is that a start Kenny Bill

You can tell a lot by just looking at the plug after trying a full throttle run. Set the float,,clean etc,,and if it still is running poorly try it again, and look at the plug. Also note whether it smokes a lot,,,runs and misses like it is about to clean out, or just goes on it's face. If it is the latter it is usually jetted way lean. The former, (and leaving a black or oily black plug) it is too rich. Check those things out and write back.

if hes gotta "sneak up" on the throttle to get it to screem the main jet is way to lean. the slide cutaway may also be too lean. the needle may be to lean. Do plug checks for sure as ossagp1 says. the light tan to white color is going to tell you way too lean. what do you mix your oil at? i belive 32:1 is where you should run on a hot day, and 36:1 - 40:1 on a cold day. also, if you find its too lean, drop the clip possition on the needle one notch and test it out. if you think its close and it seems like it is running fine, ride on for about 10 minutes at the usual ride pace you do and then check the plug's color. you dont want it black or greasy looking. you want a chocolate color to mocha tan color.

What plug are you running? My '06 did the same thing right after I took out the resistor plug and went with a standard B8ES. Husky dealer says get the resistor back in, as the ignition is programed to shut things down at higher RPM is a non-resistor is run.
