Default Husky CR250 Carb problems

Hi

I have a 1999 husky cr250 which has carb problems.
My initial problem was that the slide had worn & that the needle was sticking in the emulsion tube. as no parts were available in south africa I polished the needle with water paper in a dremmel, this gave me very high fuel consumption.
I ordered the honda cr250 2002 mod slide, needle & emulsion tube from mx south as this uses the same mikuni tmx carb as the 2002 honda. I am running a 380 mainjet, 30 pilot jet & a 6bey30-75 needle in the second position from the bottom ie 4th from top my fuel consumption is still high.

Question how do I check & set the float hieght.

ambient tempreture is about 25deg celcius where I stay at 5000 ft asl
does anyone have any advice on jetting?

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris and welcome to ATM.

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but you should have a look at this thread by Faded;

How To Set Your Motorcycle Carburetor Float Level

I'm sure the jetting gurus will be along shortly to better answer your questions.

Check out this site. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
The folks there should be able to help you out.

One cool thing about Husqvarna is that you can download manuals in pdf form from their website. The service manuals don't go back to '99, but the "how-to" on float adjustment should help.

If your still having trouble finding the exact float level for your model, call Dan at Motoxotica, he should be able to help you out.

for parts did you check with Italmoto SA, 30 Poplar road, Primrose. +27-011-828-8602

They are a Cagive dealer and Husqvarnas are all built in Italy in the Cagiva factory since 85,, the Cagiva Mito has the same engine.. not the same carb though.
