I just picked up a '99 TE410 (non-electric start), and I'm looking for help in cold vs. hot starting and performance enhancements. Let me know if you have any experience with this bike. Thanks!
Hey 370 from what I have found there are a couple of different things to consider in starting you bike. First, which carb does it have, and does that carb have an accelerator pump? On my bike ('01 570) It's taken me forever to figure out a good starting routine. What I do is turn on the primer, kick till it hits (usually one or 2 kicks) , then turn off the primer and kick some more. Whether the bike has an accelerator pump or not, Husky says not to give it any gas, but I have found that once in a while, when it's cold out, giving it a little gas it the best thing you can do.
When the bike is hot, I can usually get the bike started (if it just stalled out) by just kicking it. Other wise I go with old reliable:
Pull in the compression release, Hold the throttle wide open and kick about 10 times, then start over with the cold starting procedure.
Someone could write a book on this stuff. Don't let anyone tell you it's because you own a Husky, I have a buddy that just bought a brand new CRF 450 and he can't get that thing started to save his life
Check out my website if you get time...and I hope this helps!!!
