If we could just get some guide lines down, it would really be up to the person to keep it going and we could at least check on each other and try to toe the line on it, so to speak

I really like that idea. I wonder if Tyce or anyone that is in the sport could get someone that trains in this regard to give us some guidelines. That would be really cool.

I agree Woody....it would be nice to have some general guidelines. If its food guidelines, I can tell you what the food pyramid guidelines are for up here, but thats about it.

We had a nutritionist here MX_AIM and she is a sports nutritionist. Anybody heard from her in a while? She had some great posts.

woody, i do agree, more reps with moderate weight alows for the muscles to have more endurance...but my post earlier was for a MXer not an enduro or a harescrambler...i see dirt bikes like running. you have your motocrossers which are like sprinters and you have your enduro/harescramblers that are like marathon runners. think about how a marathon runner looks, usually long, slim muscles... those are great for running 10+ miles. now look at a sprinter...they usually have very muscular thighs for short/moderate bursts of power like the 400m dash and hurdles. what i'm getting at is that not everyone will train the same, you must train according to your specific area of riding...the reason i recommended frakke do low rep-high weight is because as a MXer i am sure he wants to be able to rip the bike in tight turns and make mid air corrections with ease. as far as nutrition...i could go on forever about that, but it is new years eve, and i'm single ok all...i have a beautiful blonde waiting on me to pick her up so we can head to a new years party

Sorry for missing alot of post here. I was celebrating newyears eve (a few hours before you guys héhé !!) At first thx for giving so much reply on my post. Also thx Shiftmx for the suggestions. I think you maybe right. I'm going to try it for a month or two and see what happens. It would be a great idea for a forum. See what you can make of it!! I think you are all sleeping now so I'll hear of it in the evening. Take care.

Thanks for following up. You really only need to last 20 minutes tops in the races I race in, so yeah. You are correct. |

I hate to disagree with you Shift but when was the last time you have seen a bulked up Pro MX rider? Defined, yes but not bulked. The more mass you have on you, the less mobility and reaction you will have. Besides that, the more red fiber muscle (bulk) in your arms, the more arm pump will affect you.

I'm with Keeto on this one I think. They actually say the same thing on the site I mentioned earlier.

keeto..i didn't mean that someone has to become a body builder to ride MX, my point i was making was strength training in my opinion was better than just cardio or endurance training. sorry if i confused you with the runners analogy. just because someone trains with low reps-heavy weight doesn't mean they get huge (have to eat like a horse to do that). Just ask Big M, Cowboy or Motoman...they have all seen me at GMBII...i am not a big guy, only average sized at 6', 170lbs, but i can bench or squat the weight of my bike. the goal i was mentioning to frakke was that strength training, not mass building was the answer to the post and i recommended he try it. yeah, anyone who trains heavy will gain a little size, but they will in no way look like mr. olympia for training they way i stated. sorry again if i caused anyone confusion.

woody, you were also correct with your statements earlier just we were talking about different situations of training from one another

Shift, my bad for not taking everything into context. Oh, and I have met you... the GMBII race. On this same topic, I would think that endurance training would be benaficial to MX as much as it would to enduro and GNCC riders. Strength will always be the number one help in both sports but the longer you can maintain that strength, the better off you will be.

So what's everyone think. Do we want to make a forum so we can discuss this type of stuff and help/support each other? I think the forum should be about health in general. Meaning injury, nutrition, exercise, etc.

Actually it wasn't my idea, I'm just the guy that will make it happen. Dell30rb was the guy with the idea. I shot hiim down and now I'm eating crow.
