Default Woody_CRF's Workout Thread

Ok, guys and gals.

I've officially started. I started this last monday and have worked out every day. So far it's going really well. I'm sore as all get out. Especially my lets.

I've learned a couple of things that I've implemented to help me and hopefully they'll help you too.

1. Make a plan
2. Plan your workouts so you can do them pretty easily. Meaning don't over do it, don't make it so you hate it. I've started off pretty light. My work outs are taking about 20-25 min is all.

My reasoning:
A. I go easy on myself so I will do it again tomorrow.
B. I think if I do, I'll keep doing it and after I'm in the habit, I can increase the sets/Time I do it.
C. I'm so out of shape I would probably quite just from being DEAD sore, and using that as a reason not to keep going.

3. Set a time to do it every day.
4. Get your spouse involved with it. Meaning (and this is what I did) I told my wife I really wanted to start working out. I have a plan etc, would you help me to remember to do it. So far she's been great. She asks if I've worked out, (not in a nagging way either), how it went etc. Just being supportive.

Thanks to both of you.

I'm going to use this thread to report in each day.

I'm working on posting my work out in case anyone else is interested. Not too hard, just something to get me going (as previously explained).

This is something I've been wanting to do for the last 10 years. Freaking taken me long enought to get going.

BTW, I think my body is in shock, as I sleep every time I blink. I walk funny now too.

Sounds like a great plan to me. I would be interested in what you do each day like how far you jog , what weights did you lift, how many big macs you ate, oh wait a minute.....that's my work out regimen!!!:

As and you shall receive. I was actually working on it as you posted that.

These are actuals from oldest (Monday) to today:

Oh, and the workout stuff is not in the order I do them. I start with the warm up jumping jacks and then stretch. Then do the rest of the exercised in a circuit (meaning chest for a set, then the next exercise, & so on).

Keep in mind, that I'm only walking not jogging. I'm trying to maintain a 130-139 bpm heart rate and walking briskly gets me their just fine.

Current Weight: 230 (that's down from 245, but the 230 is a result of not drinking Soda anymore, not working out).

I'm doing a 3 day routine and I'm working out 6 days a week.

I do upper body one day, Cardio (walking) the next, then lower body the next, Cardio, upper body, cardio, lower body, cardio... i think you get the idea.

I'll look at what I'm doing now and readjust where needed in 6 weeks.

Great job Woody! What kind of program is that you are using? Looks like that would be a pretty cool thing to keep you motivated and see the results.

Glad to see you are doing reps with low weights

Thanks Keeto. For this week it's been interesting. I'm in the "figure out how really out of shape I am stage" and "how much weight can I lift for that many reps stage" So those are what I actually did, where as the planned is a little different, e.g., 15, 12, 10.

As far as the program, it's called ProTrack 2002 - WorkOut Tracking/Planning Software and it is pretty cool. It really helps to keep track of this stuff. I can then graph my progress etc. and eventually look back and see how pathetic I was.

Oh and the goal is to get to below 190 lbs. I was 175 when I graduated hs, so anywhere in that range.

Don't know how I missed that thread but thanks! Looks like a good deal to track your progress.

I was 175 for many years after high school then got out of riding for a few years and got up to 210. I am now back to 190 and still loosing. not very fast anymore but riding the enduro circuit will definately make me loose some lbs! Bad thing is, I will have to buy new clothes and riding gear before long but if that's my main gripe... I'll shut up!

LOL, that's one of my rewards... New GEAR Yeah baby.

Heaven only knows this stuff I have now certainly won't fit.

Oh and one other thing that has been very useful and I wouldn't go without is a heart monitor. In doing some research I've found that their is a range that you should be working in to get the best results cardio wise, and this has helped me to walk at a pace that I know I'm getting the Most benefit from, without working harder then I need to.

Woody....I was wondering earlier today if this was something you had started yet. Great job!!!! I think you have an excellent plan laid out. I like the idea of getting your spouse involved. Anyway...congrats on making such an effort! I'll be looking forward to your updates.

Thanks Strong Sad... err Char

I've been meaning to post this for a while, and finally got around to it. Hopefully some others will get on the band wagon and lose some pounds too, or just get in shape with me.
