I know we had several members with busted collarbones. Seems like it's been a few weeks now and I'm curious how ya'll are healing up? Not that I plan on breaking mine, but I'm wondering if you've done anything to speed up the recovery process? So how are you guys?

Well I dont have a broken collarbone, but I broke my ankle four weeks ago to this saturday coming up.

Just over two weeks after the crash I was walking without the crutches, then 3 days later after I stopped using my crutches I stopped using the air cast too. I can almost run and jump now...Going riding this upcoming weekend too!

Char,
It's been 3 1/2 weeks now and I've felt a huge improvement in the past few days. I hope to be riding again in 2 weeks.
Don't tell my wife but when I took my daughter to the track to practice on Sunday I took the xr70 to "watch her". Luckily I did'nt
crash.

Yeah, they make you wear a cast for 6 weeks, but the bone is fused after three. An extra three weeks to save their own hides... Heck, id cut mine off!

They didn't cast my collar bone at all, not even a sling. It took a week to set and it has been almost a year now, it is still croked but they tell me eventually it will heal straight again.

Mine is healing nice. BB is correct..there is no cast ..I did wear a sholder brace for 2 weeks that helpd my shoulds back (to keep the bone lined up).

I am braceless now at 3 weeks and it has set. It doesnt hurt until I forget that it is still healing and do something stupid like lift something heavy.

Basically my doctor wants me back in in 2- 3 weeks before he gives me the OK to ride. Basically if you can't do 20 push ups...your not ready! LOL

Satch, I think you may have accidentally pushed the "0" button after you typed in 2 for number of push ups. 20 lol If I did 20 push ups I would put myself back in the hospital! I think I would have to stop at 10 for a smoke anyway.

What is Citrical? And where do you get it? I just sprained my knees pretty bad and am looking for any help I can get! I think I may try some glucosomine too. I've heard that it takes a few weeks to notice it working. Is that true?

Do those neck collars really help? I noticed Millsap wears one (the only pro who does) due to a collar bone break as a kid. It looks really cumbersome though . . . .

Darrel..I think Woody_CRF and Bates both wear the neck thingies. Seems the last I saw, they both liked them and felt they helped...and that they weren't too cumbersome once you got used to them.

I've broken both collarbones twice. two not so bad, two really badly. The really bad breakes took a full 6 weeks to heal. I wore the figure 8 brace for at least 4 weeks, took 500mg of calcium, glucosamine, multivitamins, drank tons of water, ate well(lots of foods inhibit the absorbtion of calcium), and excercized the unaffected parts of the body as soon as the pain subsided enough to move. The minor breaks healed with no special treatment in 3-4 weeks. I usually do several sets of 40-50 pushups per day when I'm healthy. after healing from my last collarbone injury, I could barely squeak out two pushups, and that's with some substantial workouts while healing.
