Kevin, I admire ya a bunch, a big bunch.
Never smoked but from most of my relatives I know how tough it is to quit.
I'll even say a prayer for you. Hang tough bud.

Just might want to throw in some bicycle riding to help the breathing.

Now that was funny! The wife read that and got one of those "hmm" grins.

Eight days and counting here! I feel better already, hasn't been too bad except when I see someone else light up, then I want one until I smell it.

7 days/14 hours since my last light up...feel different. I get bored out of my mind so I have to find things to do.

on a side note: We went riding this last Sunday by the house and I felt much better. Rode full bore, fought through the arm pump and didn't stop till at least the 10 mile mark. Usually this is where I get into trouble, I get tired for running so hard in the first part of the ride but this time I felt great. Got about 20 or so non-stop miles in and was having a blast until I saw the CHP helicopter....ah crap...Pulled the bikes in a tight canyon and lost them for a while. Popped back out and got spotted again and I knew we were in trouble. The area we were at was a little unfamiliar and I realized we got too close to private property. Took em a while to track us down but all 12 of the BLM guys where ready to fall off their bikes. We got a 2 for 1 ticket ($75) but they let us ride back home. It was a tough ride home but I found that my energy level was quite higher...ticket or not this was an accomplishment for me.

It's always nice to see the results of quitting. Sorry about the ticket. That sucks.

Keep it up, your on the home straight now.

Kev....If you had stayed in that canyon until dark, you would have saved $75 bucks.
If they were chasing you, you got off cheap.

16 days quitting here.... I started as a chewer, and eventually started smoking, the smoking is much harder to quit. I chewed for 5 years, and smoked for 6mo. off and on. I have been going strong though. it will be tough when my roomate gets back from iraq though, but I will do my best. But the drinking though, that is the worst! its so much harder when I drink to not smoke, it seems that makers mark and cigs go together well! haha Oh well Good Luck man! what about starting a stop smoking thread? we could have links to what smoking does to your body, aids to stop.... etc.... what do you guys think??

If you smoke its the best thing you can do to improve your riding and general health, well quitting smoking that is!

he smokes a pack a day and chews a can a day. on the same day.

glad to hear you got off cheap!!

Keep up the good work bro! We are all here for you!

And don't worry about falling off the wagon in the past, OR future for that matter.

We have ALL failed more times than we've succeeded. Thats what makes the success so sweet!

Nothing to be ashamed of. Just pick yourself back up, dust yourself off, and get going again.

The only failure is someone who chooses not to try.
