Default Shoulder Problems

My 12 year old is having some shoulder problems. Doctor says it's multi-directional instability and subluxation, just fancy words for loose shoulder. He said that he should wear a shoulder stabilizer while he races. Does anyone wear one and if so which one is the best? I know EVS and 661 make them but didn't know if one was better than the other.

One of my son's wears a EVS, and it gives him a fair bit of support. He won't ride without it, you might be able to try a few different brands if you live near a big bike parts supplier.

I moved this one to a forum where Dr. Mark is more likely to notice it and respond.

In the meantime, just tell Mark that some dude from Australia said EVS is the one to buy.
Just using you for a little fun, Pete. Pitqueen and her hubby ride with us in OCCRA.

You might try [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] as Dr. Mark frequents those two sites. I would definitely want to get his opinion on something like this.

The Doc showed me how to strap up the sons shoulder properly It took longer to do that than pack the bike trailer. That's why we got the EVS

I used the EVS before my shoulder finally had to be fixed surgically. Mine suffered from subluxation. The EVS brace was helpful for sure, so if the subluxation isn't too bad, then it will probably suffice. Obviously physical therapy is the best option. That's not a fun problem to have, I feel bad for the little guy. Since having the ligaments shortened up and reattached about 5 years ago, it's been great!

He's not much of a little guy, he's 5 ft 8 in. Thanks for the input. He starts physical therapy on Monday.

Well looks like we need a little more than just the Evs now. Strapping will be a must, and maybe surgery down the track.
