One of my worst wrecks was at Palm Avenue in 1995. I had my '95 CR125 and went back toward the clifs with a couple buddies. Mind you this was not my first time cliff jumping here. For some stupid reason I decided to see how fast I could go up a 30+ cliff. I had the CR almost taped out in 5th gear when I shot up the clif. The guys said I was about 20 feet above the cliff when the bike kicked out. I landed on my right leg with the bike and I heard my crunch as I fell to the ground. That was first time in a long time that I had tears from pain. I still cringe every time I think about it. At time I wish I had it on tape.

That is correct Sir. In '97 they shut it down and built a water park. I moved back to Wisconsin in august of '97

If I remember right, there's quite a few different things over there now, including the water park. The last time I rode down there was probably in 94/95-ish.

Jedi.. I know you are, makes me laugh too.

Usflag Share your wreck!

This one is pretty embarrassing but I'll share. I live in Hawaii (Oahu) and there aren't many places to ride out here. I wanted to go somewhere quick and just run the bike a little bit. So my cousin and I set out with bike in truck and ready to rock. We ended up finding a spot (45 minutes later) and unloaded the bike. It was a little rocky but manageable (I thought). I was taking it easy for about 5 minutes to get my bearings back. I got comfortable so I started doing some wheelies and showing off a little bit. While I was in a nice wheelie a rock jumped out and kicked my rear tire. At least that is what it felt like. I ended up dumping it and smacking my knee on a rock. I was only going about 15MPH at the time but the damage was horrendous. Dislocated right knee, road rash all over, and badly bruised bones and ego. To top it all off I only had the bike out of the truck 10 total minutes. My kneecap was sitting on the right side of my leg and had swollen up to a ridiculous size. It looked like somebody put a neckroll around my knee. Well 3 MRI's and countless X-rays later to everybodies amazement they found nothing broken and nothing torn. Physical therapy and time was the medicine. Very painful and wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy. I suggest wearing some sort of knee/shin protection. After all, pads are cheaper then knee reconstruction. I have never broken a bone (knock, knock, knock) and I attribute this to being an avid milk drinker but I walked.... I mean limped away lucky on this one. I have many more but I will leave it at this. Thanks for reading.

Moto Re: Share your wreck!

Ok,
Worst wreck I ever experienced was while "play riding"...
1993, You Arizona boys will know where I'm talking about... The river bottom off of Camelback Rd. This area is mostly sand and wooped out for miles. I had found a little spot to set up a small track with some nice burmed turns and a couple of small jumps that you could not over jump. I was "railing" this day for some reason, and felt I could do no wrong. I noticed a couple of guys with a 4x4 video taping me riding and decided to give a little show.(feeling invincable). I had railed this berm and came out onto one of the wooped out straights, slightly uphill then had a nice drop off that I was hitting 5th gear tapped. Well, I hit a small kicker off the drop and immediately knew I was doomed. The term "flying W" didn't do it justice. I went over the bars (5th gear pinned) and the bike chased me down!!!! When I woke up, The 2 guys were standing over me, video camera in hand. "Dude, That was the most *****in' crash I've ever seen" !!! was all I remember before passing out again. I came 2 a couple of minutes later and started to notice I was broke pretty good. My full face helmet was missing the face and visor, and I was hurtin'. When I sat up I saw the "flashbulbs" and could feel the serious pain in my back. I picked up my bike (new '93 cr250) kicked it twice and headed back to the truck. Loaded everything up myself and headed home. I went to the Dr. that afternoon to find out I had a nice concussion, 3 cracked ribs, "sprained" neck and back but no broken bones!!! I couldn't believe it... The bike sustained some nice damage, Broken bottom triple clamp, bent top clamp, bent forks, bars and subframe.
I wish I could have a copy of that video!!!!!

I will just stick with the big one. I was riding on a open practice day at Red Bud in 2004, ride was going well and we were all having a lot of fun. They used to have this jump that was a double double right out of a corner, they would shave the first double down on practice days to try and stop people from doing the combo, as it was fairly technical, but not really all that big.

Anyway me and a couple others were rolling the first double and on the landing of the first one getting on the gas very hard and seat bouncing the second one (about a 60' gap uphill, not a real big deal) we did this successfully many times the whole day.

They had just watered the track and it was a bit slick, I came around on my first lap, rolled he first double and got on the gas, on the face of the second double I felt my rear end loose traction, I KNEW I was coming up short, so I got forward on the bike and pinned it. Let me say this, I have come up short on a lot larger jumps in my life then this one, and I have NEVER EVER experienced the forces that happened to me when I came up short, I think it had to do with it being an uphill jump that threw you very high in the air coupled with the fact that I was so short that I landed right on the vertical 12’ high wall that was the face of the landing ramp.

When I hit, my legs collapsed underneath me forcing my butt onto the seat hard enough to pretzel my subframe and smash my airbox. I immediately lost all feeling in the lower half of my body, I got ejected from the bike and somewhere in that process I dislocated my shoulder to the point of my right arm being physically lodged behind my head, in other words my arm was on my back….painfull. When I lay there on the ground and couldn’t move, I lost control for a few seconds, I can’t explain what its like to lay there and know you may never walk again, its not a good feeling.

I crushed 2 vertebrae in my spine in the L area, via a compression fracture, they went in and I now have 6 vertebrae fused in my back, and one vertebra is ¾ gone, along with another that is damaged severely. I will spare you the details of recovery and just say that I wouldn’t wish what I went thru on anyone, not even my worst enemy. Long term so far hasn’t been too bad, I live with pain everyday, but I don’t complain about it at all, I consider myself one of the luckiest people on the planet to be walking again and have a somewhat normal way of life, there are things that I still have issues with today, but like I said, I consider myself lucky to not be in a wheelchair, which I was told if I would have had my accident as little as 5 years prior, there would have been no hope for recovery.
Yea, thats what I like about my boy Jimbo...He's so humble! Well, let me tell you how it really is people...This man has some MAJOR hardware within his body. I dont have all the pics and X-rays but heres just a sample of what's holding this guy together.

My funniest was on a jet ski. I was trying to ride my buddies thrashed 440 ski. I was way to big and the ski was under powered to get me going fast enough to stand up. The deck was missing the rubber where you get traction with your feet. I was going down river and when I went to stand up my foot slipped and went face first into the bars and split my lip open. I was still holding onto the bars so when I fell back into the water I gave it gas and the jet spray from the ski hit me ......... I'll just say below the belt. So I ride back to shore laying on the ski with my lower half in the water blood all over me and when I get out of the water there are like 30 people on shore laughing and then my buddy said DUDE! PULL YOUR SHORTS UP!!!! I guess when I got hit below the belt the jet blew my shorts down. And I don't care what anybody says..... WHEN THE WATER IS COLD IT DOES SHRINK!!!!!
