Thumbs up Post-Op ACL Reconstruction

Well, it hasn't even been 24hrs since the surgery and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm not in too much pain, which really surprises me. No pain pump, and no prescription for Vicodin either, just good old codiene. I haven't taken any pain meds since about 4:00am and have already started on the CPM machine (continually bends the leg back and forth).

The doctor did find that my ACL was completely torn, and I had a minimal tear in the meniscus.

All in all, I think things are going great!

I want to thank Psyclone for all the helpful advice and for going through surgery first just so he could tell me what to expect

Here is a pic from this morning:

There's a bit of bruising on the back of the knee:

But, you can't keep me off ATM!

I can't wait until I'm back on the bike. I hope I don't go stir crazy!

Later,
Naps

Glad to hear that you are healing well! You will be back on the bike soon enough, just don't rush yourself and get hurt again.

Sorry to hear about the injury, you get back up to normal riding in no time. If I was you I would keep working the arms even knowing you cant work your legs. It should help when you get back on your bike.

Best of wishes to you.
and get well soon.

You got it Raf, this one is from Mesquite :

It was unfortunate that my boot caught the dirt and that I hadn't already acquired some knee braces.

But, the good news is that I am already walking down the street (1 block down, 1 block back) 4 times a day, and doing some squats to try and get all my motion back. I think I have a high tolerance for pain, since I haven't felt like anything has hurt too bad. Of course, I tore my ACL to shreds and never really thought I did because I didn't feel it was that painful. I occasionally take some prescribed codiene after a good workout, but other than that I stay off it.

I want to thank everyone for the support. I really want to get back to riding! Of course, I will not make the mistake of doing anything too soon. It's not worth it!

Thanks All,
Tam

Holy mackeral nappers!!!

You were suppossed to be all healed up by now so we could do some riding! I know I spanked you pretty bad up at Mesquite, and this may have seemed like the easiest way to get out from facing the mighty 125 again, but you know I sold that bike about a month or so ago, so you really didn't have to go through all this

So quit jackin around and get better ok?

Seriously Tam, I hope this fixes that knee once and for all.

Get well soon kiddo!

Well, I had my one week checkup, and guess what? I can take a shower now! Yup, the stitches are out and I no longer have to resort to a sponge bath. Washing your hair in the sink just plain sucks. Well, probably not for guys, but anyone with any length to their hair knows what I'm talking about. Now I know how my poor dogs feel when I give them a cleaning in the sink!

My new avatar is of me before my shower. Boy, I was getting out of control!

All went well, with the exception of me kind of over doing it. I'm going stir crazy over here!!! No driving!

Oh, well..................

Nappers , what procedure did you have? I just had my ACl replaced and my incisions are diferent than yours. I had the patellar tendon procedure. I have a "cross" on the front of my knee, on the bottom of the knee cap, and one on the outside of the knee/thigh above the knee cap. I'm curious because you seem to be progressing much faster than I am. I am two weeks post op and only allowed 70 degrees of flex and am still on crutches for support when I walk.
