| IMO, one of the main issues here is overall perspective. If you can consider food intake to be a nescesity rather than a pleasure, you will be way ahead. If you don't eat, you die. So you must eat. However, you don't need to eat until you feel full. Lower your portions at every meal. For what it's worth. |

| I'm no chubber but when I need to shed a few I eat at meals only. Eat three meals and only three meals a day, no snacks or munching. Eat slower, if you eat to fast your stomache gets full before your brain tells you its full. And finally eat until your full not until your stuffed or your plate is empty. Thats no diet but its a good start. Oh ya, stop sitting in front of the computer and get outside and play some sports! |

| Four small meals a day is better than three. Your largest meal should be breakfast, with the others tapering off until you have your smallest meal at night. Try to eat your last meal at least four hours before you go to bed. Up the quantities of fruit and vegetables in your diet. Stay away from processed sugars and saturated fats. Exercise is cumulitive. If you can't find 45 minutes at one time to exercise, then exercise 5 minutes here, 15 minutes there, ect. Try getting in exercise by parking in the back of the parking lot instead of the closest space you can find. Drink LOTS of water. |

| Try eating no more than 2000 calories a day and do 4 days of hard cardio for 30-45 minutes at a time. That's very basic but it will help. |

A low intensity cardio, or aerobic, workout would be better for burning fat. Although the body tends to burn the most efficient fuel first (glucose) at lower intensity levels it will suppliment glucose with fat energy. |

| I am not well-versed in anaerobic vs. aerboic exercise, but I used to wrestle in high school (back in the day), and we had to be both in shape and drop weight to compete in our weight class. In order to accomplish these two objectives quickly not only did we drill wrestling moves, but we had to do strenuous cardio./resp. workouts like sprints, stairs, etc. Other conditions aside, I would be surprised if one can keep unwanted weight on if you exercise like that on a regular basis. Aside from having a coach and team to motivate you, running (though hard on the lower back), bicycling, swimming, and even racquetball are good ways get some of that kind of exercise. |

| If you have any prior or current injuries to take in consideration then keep in mind that running and racketball both put tremendous strain on the knees and ankles (and for some of us, me included, the back) and are considered "high impact" activities. Swimming is the lowest impact activity with bicycling a surprising second. Quote:
You wind up with a net loss of 2-5 lbs that your body replaces in a couple of days. I don't know what your weight loss goals are but models and actors as well as atheletes use water loss to quickly slim down, but it goes back up just as quickly. I wasn't always "Heavy" D. |

| I would think that you would start to see and feel a difference within a couple of weeks at that rate. Stick to it!! |

| Is 700 calories really sound like enough? Eat in moderation. Crash diets don't work. If you eat 700 calories one day it is hard to maintain that for longer than a few days. If you eat 1500 calories a day and maintain exercise then you will do well. |

| What ever you do dont starve yourself. I tried this. I jumped into riding a stationary bike 5 miles a day and cut my calorie intake in half. Within two weeks I lost alot of weight but I couldnt stay awake. You will lose all your energy and you body will think you are starving it and your metabolism will slow down in turn you will lose weight slower. |

| The problem with drastically cutting calories is that your body senses that you're in starvation mode, and holds onto the fat stores and burns muscle - exactly what we DON'T want. Cut the simple carbs and load up on lean beef, chicken, seafood, veggies. Watch the amount of fruit as it has a lot of simple sugars in it. If you're not in great shape, you probably want to stay away from any thermogenic agents (ephedra/DNP/etc) as they can cause issues with people who are excessively heavy. HeavyD had some good info, but in order for cardio to do any good, you need to do a minimum of 20 minutes - anything less than this simply doesn't do any good. If your gym has equipment that lets you monitor your heart rate, great - otherwise go buy a Polar heart rate monitor - this is by far the simplest way to keep yourself in the fat burning 'zone'. The zones are determined by the following formula: 65% - 85% of 220 - your age - so for me it would be 65-85% of 190 since I'm 30, which = 121.6 -161.5 bpm. If I'm cutting (I go from 250/255 in off season to 205 for competition), I'll do 2 45 minute cardio sessions a day, keeping my heart rate right at 140. Keep yourself well hydrated and make sure that you take a good multivitamin. Lifting weights is anaerobic, but I recommend it as carrying muscle will burn fat, as well as condition you for riding. | try eating nothing but salad for about a week. very little dressing if ya need it, be sure it is a light though like "lite ranch". keep your workouts rotated. do push ups and sit ups, stuff like that, one day...then the next get on your bike or go for LONG wlaks or short runs. not a jog, try to get into a "light" sprint. maybe for about a mile to start. this will help tons to get rid of rolls, fat %, and extra "junk" attached to ya |

| ouch - salad will give you nothing but basic carbs, and the sudden extreme lack of calories will put you in starvation mode. complete lack of protein will cause catabolism and your body will begin to break down muscle to feed itself. if you plan on going this route, buy yourself a low-carb protein shake and make sure that you get a gram of protein a day per pound of target weight (if you want to weigh 200lbs - make sure you get 200g of protein. 1g/protein = 4 calories 1g/carbs = 4 calories 1g/fat = 9 calories so you're getting 800kcal/day from the protein shakes. |
