This is very advice here. Take your time, eat less, and drink milk or water.

actually that is incorrect, do a google on 'high glycemic'. the processed rice and flour gives you a sharp jolt of energy, then drops you much like sugar does. whole wheat and brown rice are a much better choice.

I disagree with starving yourself, chances are you wont do this forever and then when you return to your normal habits you'll put the weight right back on.

Think of your body as a bike,,,,,,,,your bike needs certain things to run at its peak, fuel, oil, etc.....Your body is the same way and if you eat with that philosophy you'll feel better and loss weight. So when you eat something, think about the way that food will effect your body.. Are chips, fried foods, soda, and other fatty foods going to make you work better? Nope. They might make you feel full but they arent going to help. Try low fat, low sugar foods that are high in protein and vitamins*

* beer is always an exception

i'm not saying starve yourself. if you usually eat 2 cups of food. eat a cup and a half. sooner or later your body will figure out that's all it needs. your weight will go down and your body won't be in starvation mode because it's not a big drastic change.

Has anyone mentioned going to the Gym?

If you don't want to join a gym, best thing to do is go jogging now and then, cross-country preferably...lots of up hills and stuff . Do that and you will not only lose weight, you will get very fit if you keep it up.
Drink lots of water, and fight temptation for pop E.g Coca-Cola, Pepsi, drinks with lots of sugar in them are really bad.
